My DM will be going with us in a couple of weeks and she will need to have oxygen available to her. She only uses it here every once in a while but I am afraid that with the heat and humidity and all the going she may need it more there. Is there a place we can call and have oxygen delivered to our resort or should I call our supplier here. Do you know if her insurance will cover the costs there-medicare? Also, should we haul her concentrator or could we get one of those there also??? Thanks for any help you can give.

Your first step should be to call her supplier at home. They can help you coordinate the orders you will need for the oxygen and also the coverage for the costs.
Chances are good that her supplier is part of a national chain that has a branch in Orlando. If that is the case, getting it all arranged will be very easy. If not. they should still be able to get you hooked up with a supplier in Orlando (there are lots).
If you are flying, you will need to check with her doctor whether flying will cause any problems. If she needs oxygen for the flight, you will need to work with the airline to arrange that.

Thank you soooooo much for your advice. We are not flying, her Dr. said the tirp was fine but he would not clear her for air travel. We use a Senior Home Health Care and I believe it is national....off to the phone..

Hi! We went in 2002 and used H+R medical-they deliveredt o our resort.we had to bring our own regulator and oxy masks. i do not know if they are still in operation, but here's the #407-847-9124

We use Apria and they are a national chain. I called my home branch and they made the arrangements with the Orlando branch. It was then delivered to the resort. We did bring our own portable tank and nasal cannulas.
The first aid station at the park will hold your portable tank for you if it's not something you need continually.
Have a good trip!

You have all been so helpful. I missed the girl I need to talk to today but I am calling her back tomorrow so we will see what they can do for us locally. If mom gets along fine it is nice to know we can leave some at the first aid station (just in case). Like I said I am just worried about the extra heat, humidity and increased activity causing some problems for her....Thanks again to all of you....

Hi,

We just went through this with my mother in October. She had to contact her supplier ahead of time, and they shipped down as much as she needed and the hotel stored it until they got there. They did take the concentrator down because she is on oxygen 24/7 and it was easier to use overnight.

HTH!!

Ashley
