I'm looking to add on about 100 pts. I have 200 at OKW. I like all the resorts, and don't care to resort hop during the same trip. So, why shouldn't I purchase pts. from VB, and just use them at OKW when I need them? Or any other resort we may decide to visit? I understand the 11/7 mo ressie rule. But honestly, w/ this add on, why not just choose the cheapest resort, both in terms of resale and maintenance fee? I don't care to go anywhere for Easter or Christmas, other than my own kitchen, so we don't go in the height of the crowds.

What say you? :confused3 Stick w/ OKW, or go for something even less expensive?

Thanks for your input!! :wave2:

Vero Beach seems to be a resort that is more difficult to sell. I think it has the highest fees for maintenance.

I have points at BWV and SSR, but always stay at OKW. I have the same Use Year on both contracts. Since I prefer OKW, I wind up having to wait for the 7 month window anyway so to me it doesn't matter. I also travel at non-peak times because I don't have kids.

If your heart is set on OKW points, contact a DVC resale realtor who can keep an eye out for you.

Good luck!

We did it that way for all of our contracts we bought where the best deal was at the time thus we own 3 different resorts.

VB may be the cheapest to purchase, but I believe they also have the highest maintenance fees. If you can buy VB for $5/points less than say OKW, but their maintenance fees are $0.50/point higher, than in 10 years you've spent the same amount of money, and every year after that is costing you more.

There is also a slight risk that DVC may change the 11/7 month windows, or even restrict using points at non-home resorts. This is probably a very slight risk, but be aware it could happen.

Finally, if you purchase VB today, and several years from now want to sell, it may be difficult to sell VB.

I did not purchase VB for the reasons stated by Caskbill. I particularly worried about any chance of restriction of points at non-home resorts, because VB is not particularly of interest to us (no insult AT ALL, we just aren't a major "beach" family and there are some gorgeous ones much closer to home.) so if we were limited to there or other resorts with short scheduling windows DVC would really not be of the same value to us.

We own at two resorts. OKW and BCV. We enjoy all of the resorts but want 11 month booking for these two. BCV for December and OKW for all other times.

I suspect any price advantage VB has over OKW will be eaten up in less than twenty years with higher maintenance fees.

I gotta stick with the buy where you want to stay rule. If you want to bank and borrow to sazve up your points for Christmas, Easter or to get a beach cottage, go for vero. If you plan to stay at OKW, I'd go for OKW points. You'll be set up to get a GV when you want it. The price difference is negligible.
