Ownership at VGC

Does anyone own at VGC? I am thinking of buying into this resort. There are rumors that it is difficult to get in even around the 11 month mark. Just curious what your experience is.

We own at VGC and haven't had any trouble getting reservations. We went April 2010 with two months notice, February 2011 with four months notice, and have reservations for October 2011 which I made at 7 months and 1 week (meaning it was still in the VGC owners only period). I haven't tried to get a high demand time, such as Christmas or Thanksgiving, but so far I haven't had any trouble. I would think that for the most part calling at 11 months for high demand times would likely be successful.

Anyone know how hard/easy it is from experience this year getting a week in April at the 7-mo. mark? We may want to go 3rd week of April 2012, but own at BWV. Nervous about waiting to 7 mos. and not getting anything?

We bought GCV even though our favorite resort is OKW because we knew with the very limited number of DVC GCV's available it would be tough to book. We moved to Seattle and knew we would want short weekend trips to DL and haven't had any issue the one time we booked at 11 months out. Since there are so many DVC WDW resorts, we are happy with this choice when we added on.

I own at VGC and am very happy with it and haven't had any trouble booking at 11 months out.

I'm betting that they are trying to push the new, not sold out resorts, which explains why your guide was pushing BLT. If you can get VGC and prefer that resort, I'd go for it. It's your money.

VGC is very hard to get into during the summer months unless you book early.

At he 7 month mark I have had no problems booking, even during Christmas week... But it fills up pretty quickly.

We mostly go over the summer. That is why I wanted the 11 month booking window. I think we will buy into this one.

Just FYI:
This past christmas we booked 1 studio and 1 2br at 10mo I think. Checked Around 8mo we inquire about another studio, there was availability but we haven't gotten a confirmation from a family member so we didn't book. At 6.5mo we got confirmation, tried to add a studio or even a 1br, but no go. We didn't want to WL in case it never went through, so we used points at PP instead.
So between 8-6.5mo there was lots of booking for xmas time.

We haven't tried summer booking yet.

If you go over summer you may want to spend time reading the "understanding UY thread/sticky". You would do well with an April or June UY if traveling in the summer.

I'd agree with the sentiment above, 11 months shouldn't be too big a problem, but less than 7 months out you can expect to just go ahead and bank your points. Waitlists have yet to come through for me ever. I know it depends on when you travel, but with the typical family, traveling the typical times of year that a family of 5 would, I'm hard pressed to get reservations less than 7 months.

We've been there 3 times, and we've gotten pretty much what we wanted everytime. We have a big family, so we get a 2BR. Once, we booked at 11 months, but the other 2 times was around 8 months and 11 months out.

We're going next month, and got the 6 nights we wanted, booked right before the 7 month out time. Then, we ended up waitlisting for another Saturday night either before or after....

We ended up getting both! So, we've had pretty good luck, but we definitely are happy we bought there, to take advantage of the 11 month window.
