It seems like a lot of DVC members utilize owners lockers. I am just curious as to what you guys put in them? 🤔

At first I thought it was unnecessary, but now with rising checked baggage costs im wondering if there is something to this! Going twice a year for a couple of weeks at a time, I'm feeling this might be something we may be interested in down the line.

I love mine. I pay for unlimited visits because we go so often.

I keep my fervid tumbler, popcorn bucket, umbrella, ponchos, pool bag and sandals, OTC meds, sunscreens and aloes, make up, toiletries, dryer sheets, zip loc baggies for left overs, my hair straightener and round blow dryer…flavored coffee, alcohol, and tons of my Minnie ears!!

Some of the items mentioned above as well…never know when you need scissors, duct tape, rubber bands. Or Krazy Glue!!! lol

You just gave me some really good ideas. So my wife and I are polar opposites when it comes to body temperature.

I am ALWAYS freezing and she is always hot. I sleep with a mini heater on my side and she sleeps with a mini fan on hers lol.

Needless to say it has always ended up with her either being hot all night or me freezing when we travel and one of us complaining that we didnt sleep well.

It would be great to order a mini heater and fan for our trips while we're there and pack it in an owners locker as well as tape for all the lights that bother us!

How big are these lockers?? Not having to lug a big box of pads in a suitcase if needed would be great too (sorry guys 🤣🤣)

They’re 22x20x13. I’m going to buy a similar sized storage container and start putting stuff in it to make sure it all fits. When we travel with all the owner’s locker goods I’ll pack it all in a checked suitcase and put husband’s clothes in a carry on packable duffel bag. We can put his clothes and the duffel in the suitcase for the return trip. Or bring home more souvenirs than usual 😂.

It would be great not having to lug medicine and vitamins too, those always take so much space.

We always overpack clothes and some were bought just strictly for Disney world (Hawaiian shirts for poly stays, coonskin cap for WL, we are themed like that 🤣🤣)

I think it would be great to keep some stuff for Disney cruising out of port Canaveral there too! The fish extenders and stateroom gift exchanges we participate in plus pirate night outfits and mickeys Halloween party outfits take up so much room in our suitcases!

Our family buys wayyy to many souvenirs too so much so that some people had to have extra luggage purchased from Amazon for the return trip home.

That did cost to pay for brand new luggage and extra baggage charge for the flight home. I dont see our shopping habits changing. I was crushed that some of the ornaments we bought were smashed to pieces.

So your next upcoming trip your going to pay for extra baggage to transport everything to Florida? I was thinking that or just making a stop at Walmart and start shopping there 😆

I thought about the Walmart shopping trip too. We have free checked baggage with our airline cc. I figured I’d enjoy planning, shopping and packing it up on this end so I’m not spending the time shopping on the vacation. I’m an over-thinker and a stressed shopper so I figured I’d spare my spouse the agony of dealing with me and a mile long shopping list in Orlando 😂.

The fact that you get free checked bags def makes sense to bring it yourself this time!

We’re up to four lockers and love them. We travel peak holiday weeks and also weather extremes, so we have one full of just my husband’s Disney gear; Tommy Bahama dress Disney shirts, linen pants for dinner, Haunted Mansion crocs, undershirts, a hoodie, light fleece jacket, water shoes, sandals, room slippers, and underwear/socks.

Locker two are our Beast cups (like Yeti/Tervis,) that we bring our margaritas in poolside to keep them frozen in the summer heat, special coffee mugs, popcorn kernels, popcorn cheese, oil for popping, and silicone microwave popping thingy. We also have salt, pepper, cinnamon, sugar, and maple syrup (small amounts.). Metal straws, Ziplock bags, silicone bags for leftovers. I also replenish and have a box of pasta, Kraft Mac and cheese, oatmeal cups in case we get in late and everything is closed and we’re hungry. Kids will eat Mac and cheese with a couple coffee creamers in the room in a pinch at midnight!

Locker three is all the seasonal stuff; swim goggles, water shoes for hot pavement, room slippers, Christmas light-up necklaces, hand warmers, light mittens, camelback backpacks for hot summers in the parks, full-size sunblock, light hats, shampoo/conditioner.

Locker four is king flannel bedding because that crappy cotton sheet doesn’t cut it, throw fleece blankets for the kids in bed/watching TV, Uno cards, sound machine, ponchos, umbrellas.

We’re a family of four, and now the kids are adult sized, so everything X4 eats up space.

We do not save money in airline baggage fees (although we always are COO,) but I don’t get the lockers for saving money, I do it so Mom can relax and feel like DVC is totally home away from home.

My dream would be to walk on the airplane with nothing but the clothes on my back and a purse. And return the same way with the addition of a Disney Parks shopping bag with a few souvenirs from the trip. Having everything else I need including clothes and shoes in Owner’s Lockers that stay in Florida.

You will get a lot of ideas here of things to pack in your OL, not to mention if you search this forum for other similar threads. Let me just add that I think there's still a discount on the initial fee for DVC owners - there used to be a link on the member website, but if not you can message the OL folks via their website. They are DVC owners themselves and wonderful to work with!

Once you sign up, you'll have access to your Dashboard, where there's a place for you to keep a list of items that you store in your OL. We kept full size containers of shampoo, lotion, toothpaste, etc. in there, not to mention OTC meds that expire, so at the end of every stay when we were packing up (I hope you're good at Tetris) I could make notes on that online list of items that needed to be replaced or replenished. The list automatically alphabetizes, so I started the name of each item with a B for Bathroom items, K for kitchen, etc. One tip that I didn't find out about until we were about to give ours up is that if you put a . as the first character, those items will move to the top of the list. (I know that's probably ho-hum knowledge to you younger folks who have been dealing with computers since you were small, but when I was in college the mainframe computer took up a huge building, so....)

Do you think thats possible with this service?

Here are some items I would like to have in an Owners Locker:
Brita
Waterpik
Salt and pepper
Good kitchen knives
Small cutting board (I like apples and peanut butter every day, even in studios)
Pool sandals
Ponchos

I could do it with 2 OL I believe. There’s only my spouse and me (kids are grown with their own families), and 50% of the time I travel solo. I would want one OL specifically for clothes and shoes and one OL for everything else from my list. I think I could do it. I’d need to decide if the freedom to travel like I’m going to the mall and back home a couple of 10 day trips per year would be worth the $300ish per year. Something to think about for sure. I have a back issue and it could be worth it just to not risk a flare up slinging luggage around while traveling.
