Owners locker?

Does the water filter store well? I would hate to only use it for a week and throw it away we wouldn't use it back home

I can't think of any way to completely dry the Brita filter, and I can only imagine a moldy mess within a few weeks of storing it. The only option I can think of is to take it home in a ziplock and use it in a home Brita pitcher.

I haven't had a problem at all. We take the filter off the night before we leave to allow it to dry out as much as possible (fill up the pitcher and the coffee pot first). I then put a paper towel in the bottom of a ziplock bag, put all the pieces in it - then set it upright in our OL without zipping it closed. The OL is not airtight, I assume that's why we've not had an issue with mold.

Another big thumbs up for OL. We would not want to take a Disney vacation without it, especially for trips of more than just a few days. We have packed our locker so full it takes some engineering to get everything back in it when it's time to leave!

I just bought my locker yesterday! Looking forward to filling it up next month :)

We love ours and are boarderline to needing a second. We keep ziplocks, a bottle of scotch, tide pods, color catchers, unscented dryer sheets, dishwasher tabs, hats, daily needs including shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, nail clippers, small stash of first aid supplies, a blanket, two sweatshirts, coffee press, coffee bean grinder, umbrellas, ponchos, glow sticks, chargers for phones, iPod, iPads, a scissors, pens, a sharpie, packing tape. Some things that we don't use often but just in case a flashlight and a deck of cards. I also keep a purse and wristlet and we have a big Disney reusable bag that we use to corral purchases.

Is it a necessity? No, it isn't, but it really has become one by not having to pack all the above each time we go. OL keeps me updated where my box is at all times and I have never had the slightest problem.

Well we're sold! We usually drive when we go to Disney for a week but now that we are buying DVC we plan to do some long weekends and this will be awesome for flying! No checking bags! Our next trip will be January so we plan to buy and load.

This thread has been very helpful!

dnkmmw brings up a good point: The OL website allows you to keep an inventory of the contents on-line. Comes in handy when you don't recall if a particular item is in the OL (but you must remember to update any changes made at the end of a trip--"we used up all of the toothpaste"):)

There is pretty much universal love for Owners Locker here on the DIS. We have had our lockers since the program began and absolutely love them. As a matter of fact, I am leaving shortly for WDW and it took me all of 20 minutes to pack because most everything I need will be waiting for me when I arrive. Owners Locker service is stellar. You will receive text/email the morning of your arrival verifying that lockers are waiting and again to verify that your lockers are safely stored after you leave. The convenience of Owners Locker vastly outweighs the cost. I could never go back to WDW vacations without mine!

We did it for awhile, but then when we had 18 months between trips, we cancelled it. It was a really nice service though, especially if you go to Disney twice a year. We put toiletries in there, "park shoes", water wings, all the things that took up a lot of room in our suitcases.

It's too early in the morning, I had already replied to this thread. Just thought I'd add that John is much more than a purple van driver, he's an angel.

We've decided, for now at least, to not go with a locker.

It just doesn't make sense for us.

We drive. So we don't pay extra for checked baggage.

We won't, at this point, be going more than once a year. This trip is an exception that will only happen again if we purchase more points and want to use them right away.

And what we will need, will change based on when we go. Jackets for December/January, swim suits for September.

Instead I have set up a box here, at my home. I have all our Disney stuff in it. I can get it out before our trips, and our hip packs, ponchos and Magic Bands are ready to go. If I get it out early, I can start tossing stuff in it, gum, candy, swimsuits or the like.

It works for right now. And if we decide that we want an Owner's Locker, we can set one up in the future.

Honestly, if we could drive, I would probably do what you are describing. We spend about 6-7 weekends tailgating in the fall, and we have all of our tailgating gear in various boxes that are very easy to load in and out of the vehicle. At the end the season, the boxes go into a rack suspended on the ceiling of the garage until next year.

I still think that OL makes sense for people who only visit once a year, even if the trips are in different seasons. Most of the stuff in our OL is practical stuff that we like to have on hand in our own home; we don't keep clothes, shoes, etc.
