Owners Locker Initial Delivery

Hi everyone! I've been looking at the Owner's Locker for a while now and think I'm just about read to sign up.

I'm curious how fast the initial delivery (to your house) is? I'm leaving in 16 days for a trip and was wondering if I could get the locker and have it shipped back out in time for my trip.

I am not sure which house you are referring to. The way OL works is that you are provided a rather large purple plastic container which is delivered to the WDW resort you are staying at and then the day you leave yuo fill it with anything you want to store and drop it off at guest services which handles storage of luggage at the resort and OL picks it up that day, usually after you have left. The next time you plan to come you simply go on-line and tell them where you will be and when and the box is delivered to your resort the day you arrive.

You will need to order your empty locker to have it delivered to your resort.

You will need to take the stuff that you want to store in it with you, ship the stuff to the resort yourself, rent a car and go shopping, or have WeGoShop do the shopping for you.

It took us a couple of vacations to decide what to keep in ours.

We did meet a couple who keep all of their clothes and belongings in several lockers. Depending on the time of year and weather, they order locker 2,4,and 5 delivered or 1,3 and 5. They don't take any luggage when they travel.

Delivery to the resort is very quick. In fact, we decided to add a second locker during one of our vacations and it got delivered the next day. They're not shipped to the resort in the manner that someone may ship a package via UPS or FedEx. OL has a van they use to drop off and pick up the lockers at the resorts each day. They deliver them directly to Bell Services.

You raise a good point and it would be handy to have it shipped to your house so you could fill it at home and ship it back to Florida prior to your trip. This question has been asked in the past and the Owners Locker folks responded at the time that they didn't want to be responsible for any damage that might occur to the contents when your locker (or your own shipping carton if you opted to do it that way) is shipped from your home back to their warehouse.

What we did when we first got an OL was to make a list of what we needed. I got some things locally and packed them in our luggage. We rented a car for one day at WDW and spent a few hours going shopping for the remaining items on the list.

Talk about serendipity...I was thinking about how I could word a post for "what if I decide to get an OL while on our trip?", I used the dropdown to DVC-Mousecellaneous, and boom, there your post was. That was cool!


So thanks for asking the question! The answers have been very helpful. I think if we do it, we'll just buy stuff down there. Taxes are lower and prices start out cheaper in the area, for us at least. And we rent a car anyway. Might as well save a couple bucks.

We did the same thing on one of our trips. Our original locker was so full it would take me three tries to get everything in there just right so I could close the lid. On one trip we had a few new items we wanted to leave in our locker so we had to get a second one during our stay. We gave OL a call and they dropped it off the next day during their regular deliveries. Very easy!

I did have the empty locker shipped to me a few years back. I did pay to have it shipped to me. But we drove down, so i just packed it up and put it in the car. It was nice to take my time and pack it up at home.
