I was wondering if anyone with food allergies has an owners locker? We are still waiting on ROFR, but was thinking about all the benefits as we wait! We go to Disney once a year, so I'm not sure if an owners locker would be worth it. BUT I can't eaten gluten so I wouldn't be able to use the toaster in the room at a minimum. So I was thinking we could keep a toaster and other cooking supplies in it (along with our bathroom supplies etc). We wouldn't eat much in our rooms but I can see breakfast some days and if we stay a week some other meals. So I was curious as to what others might keep in their owners locker if they have food allergies?

My DD has food allergies and she loves waffles. Since we prefer to cook in our villas most of the time with only going to 3 or 4 meals in the parks, we love having an OL. So we have a waffle iron in our OL as well as 6 large mugs, I think they are 16 oz mugs. We keep the mugs in their original box and the waffle iron is loose wrapped in a bag. We still have plenty of room for shampoos and conditioners, soaps, brushes , toothpastes , tooth brushes, misc small items plus a few items of clothes and so much more.. I am always pleasantly surprised at just how much I have in there when I return to Disney. Hope this helps.

DVC rooms all have toasters in them however I would still consider an OL. They really do change how you travel to WDW and make them much more like a home from home.

You just can't beat the convenience of having all your "stuff" there :thumbsup2

The toaster is a cross contamination issue. For those with severe gluten allergies, your toast crumbs stuck on my gluten free waffle could mean a migraine, rash, and severe cramps for the next 24 hours. That's why we (and others) would keep a toaster in the OL. Pretty much everything else can be cleaned easily - toasters are tougher.

Sorry not having to deal with allergies I didn't consider cross contamination. Makes sense though with all the little bits on a toaster.

Yeah that's correct, we can't use the toaster due to cross contamination. That's why we thought OL might be beneficial. I do like the thought of a waffle iron too! so I was curious what

Oops... Yeah so I was curious what others might use in their OL if they are dealing with food allergies.

We're planning to get an OL for our visit later this year. I have a gluten allergy but aside from possibly a toaster (though really I might just use the oven and save that toaster space for something else) not much in my locker is based on being GF. I am planning to leave mini packets of Heinz ketchup so I always have safe ketchup and maybe mayo as well (modified food starch is my nemesis). Self stable and small packets. I may also bring a few extra unopened GF Mac and cheese boxes Glutino choc chip cookies, crackers etc and leave them for our next trip if the expiration date allows.

Have you thought about a toaster bag or pocket. I used one of these in the toaster to avoid cross contamination with gluten products.

Oh I haven't heard of those before. I'll have to look into it. It sounds like a good idea for say over night trips to the in laws too.
