Has anyone used this website to book a villa? I found a nice villa for an especially nice price during early Dec 06. I inquired on ownerdirect.com and they replied that if I call them ASAP and give them my credit card # they will put me in touch with owner and I have 24 hours to agree to terms of owner before they bill me 10% of total cost.

The owner wants $300 non-refundable deposit and cash payment. I have used other rental companies before but they don't have what I'm looking for this time.

Any comments on http://www.ownerdirect.com ??

We've never used them, just because we've always been able to find what we've needed on other sites..

Have you double checked the cancelation policy? Would you get your money back from the website?

Have you been able to find the house on another website listing? Maybe the owner has their own website?

JMHO, I guess "paying to talk to the owner" kind of leaves me a little bewildered, as does giving anyone my cc without my deciding to purchase

Let us know what happens, though - I'm all for having another good rental site to work with

I have had one booking through them.
This is standard terms and conditions for most of us owners.
But if you contact owner direct,it may be cheaper as not paying 10% commision to site owners,
