Spending a night at a different DVC resort before our week at Poly. I wanted to stay somewhere that I have never seen before. Are the rooms here (OKW) not your standard rectangle layout? I saw a studio layout and it looks different than the other DVC studios. Are they all this way?

Yes, OKW is unique for DVC at WDW.

The biggest difference with OKW studios is there are 2 queen beds instead of 1 queen and 1 sofa bed (some also have the Murphy bed).

Yes, VWL added the Murphy bed for a 5th person, VGF and Poly were built with it. BWV is adding them with the current renovation, as will BCV (whenever the renovation gets done). No other resorts have announced adding them.

Just be careful staying at OKW-you may end up as OKW owners. We also stayed there "just to try a different DVC resort", right after we became members elsewhere and DH decided after one night that we HAD to be OKW owners.

I think the size and layout of the rooms of OKW is one of the best features of OKW. It's definitely worth trying out for a night so you can compare the resort.

Should I bother waitlisting for a room near the HH? Much of a difference? We are only there one night before Poly.

The room sizes are great and totally different. HH is great to be near but you can request similar buildings that are close by with very little walk. Beautiful resort to stroll around and very relaxed. When we stay there, I think we spend more time at the resort itself than we do at any others because it is so relaxing with many activities. Enjoy. You cannot go wrong with any of the places. We booked here once just for the 2 bed option.
