Overweight at Universal

I think the problem rides for the pooh+ shrek+ people (myself included) are the group lapbar ones.. where you get others in your row significantly smaller than you who pull reallllly hard on the bar so they are secure & the bar cuts into you so you feel like its slicing you in half!!

( this was so freakin' embarrasing at dizney california , on one ride they gave my hubby a bumper pillow to put in front of him so the lap bars matched......)
this has been a real battle with some of us. one friend did a solo with a couple foreign kids on spiderman & they squished all to hell, they would NOT stop pulling on that bar. he ended up very ill feeling the enitre day from that.
I am usually the largest in my family row on these things, & for some reason on the mummy even though I try to pull the bar scure some of me, just doesn't fin wiht that,, so when we hit that "big" bump & end up getting almost tossed out. yea i know enthusuasts call it flying time, but I hate hate HATE it. I wanna fell secure..... give me a shoulder harness anyday.

lol was that on mulhalon falls or somthing like that. I had my 8yo son on that one and the put the bumper in. Now that 8yo is over 6 feet tall and 17.

I also had trouble with Ripsaw Falls. I slid in so snugly, I dreaded getting out the whole ride. Sure enough, I had to use my arms in an awkward position to lift up all of my weight from a tight fitting boat. Also, there was a boat full of people behind us who had to wait for me to get out. I'm old enough to not let it bother me, but it wasn't exactly what I'd call a fun ride. :lmao:

Sheikra, Montu and Kumba all have the larger seats just like Dragons and Hulk. Scorpion should not be a problem but the seats do not have a lot of leg room.

One problem is the same type of ride can have different belt lengths and seat sizes. Dragons and Montu are both B&M inverted coasters. My local Six Flags park has a B&M inverted coaster as does Hersheypark. At Hersheypark I can fit in a standard size seat without a problem. At Six Flags, I can't even get close to buckling the standard size seat (no larger seats on that ride).

As for Dr. Doom, my local park has the exact same ride system and they got new restraints for it in 2008. They were made much smaller, I could easily fit in 2007 and earlier, in 2008 and 2009 I still fit but had more trouble. I'm not sure if they did the same with Dr. Doom or not.

The test seats are not always accurate either. One coaster at my local park has a test seat for a coaster and I can't fit. Someone on another site told me to try the ride anyway, it was a little of a struggle to get the seat buckled on the actual ride but I fit.

Thanks Yoshi:)
What about Gwazi? It looks like it has individual seats with individual lap belts. Is that correct? Do you think I will have any problems with that ride?
Does scorpion have big seats and what type of restraint? I shouldn't have a problem with leg room as I am not tall just my stomach is bigger when my legs are pulled up closer to my body. Any other place that I can find info on the rides and modifications? I've looked on themeparkinsider.

Gwazi uses a individual lap bar, with I think individual seatbelts. The bad thing is the seat dividers make it uncomfortable. I'm not sure if Gwazi has the solid divider or just the frame but the solid divider is a tighter fit (Gwazi runs PTC brand trains and some PTC trains use the solid divider, others just use the frame). The lap bar itself should not be a problem.

Unless they added seatbelts to Scorpion, it is just a lap bar. It is probably my favorite or 2nd favorite coaster restraint. It is not restrictive at all and going upside down with just a lap bar and no over the shoulder restraint is so much fun.

It doesn't always have pictures of the coaster trains, but I usually used RCDB.com (roller coaster database) when I want to look at pictures of the rides or the restraints they use.

have any pooh sized people trie Rip Ride rockit yet? was it tight? im a size 22/24 UK sizes mostly round the middle really want to ride this!

Well I was about 285 lb I believe last time I went and rode it....I just fit. So idk what the UK sizes are but you prob won't have a prob.

I rode rip ride rockit last Oct and just fit! I'm 5'4" 263. It was very tight and not comfy at all. I have a big butt so that's where it gets me the most...not the stomach. I didn't have any other problems. I was on the Hulk and Dueling Dragons with no problm in the "larger" seats.

Dudley will be an issue. I'm 120lb and 5'4" but it's a squeeze for me to get in there - you have to get your knees right up to your body before you can slide past the lap bar.

What? 5'4'' - 120lbs?

Is this a kiddie ride?

I assure you I am 6'0 and quite larger than that and I rode ripsaw falls just fine. Like I previously stated if you my height you should definitely not sit in the front of the car. My legs were too long and I had a problem getting out because my knees couldn't bend.

I rode The new Rip Rocket and fit. They'll push down on the bars until they hear it click.

Thanks for that. I'm also 6'0. Weigh around 230lbs - were their any rides you couldn't get on?

Nope you should be good on everything. The only two rides Ive ever had a problem with are the previous mentioned front car of the Ripsaw falls and a Roller Coaster at Six Flags in Cali where my legs got wedged in and I had serious trouble getting out.

I can ride every single ride at WDW and Uni and you will be able to as well.

costume, pat -

thanks, that makes me feel better. :thumbsup2 I'm starting to plan a US trip for later in the year.

Ripsaw Falls presents a challenge to those with long legs too ;)

At 5' 9 1/4", it's doable...but does take some time to get in!

i'm 5' 10'' and weigh 275 lbs. I BARELY fit in the regular seat on the Hulk. (my mum had the larger seat) It was really embarrassing because the ride attendants had to push me in. ;) On Dudley Dorights Ripside Falls i had a REALLY hard time getting in. I was in the back and my legs were so long i couldn't contort to fit the under the seat. The bars in the ride were also very uncomfortable the whole ride. My legs were pinned between the bars and the side of the ride, and the bars were digging into my leg fat. I had no problem getting out, though. :) I'm worried about not being able to lose weight and being unable to ride the new harry potter rides, so i started goin to the gym yesterday.
