We only have 3 more days before the end of our trip.
We have way overstocked on groceries. The freezer, fridge and cupboard are still full of food. I hate the thought of throwing it out. Can anyone suggest somewhere that we might be able to donate the food? It is all unopened and is just not going to get used.

This might take up some of your time, but I'd suggest that you contact Stephanie Klees, Community Relations Assistant, at Greater Orlando Food Outreach at 407-849-0079 or stephanie.klees@battlepoverty.org or Dave Krepcho executive director of Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida at dkrepcho@foodbankcentralflorida.org. You might be able to arrange to have certain foods - probably not frozen foods or perishables - picked up from your hotel's concierge.

I guarantee you the people cleaning your home after you leave make minimum wage at best...and probably have a family...leave them a note telling them to take whatever they want...

Dick's idea is great and if it does not work out, then your cleaning people will be most grateful

Nice thought...Ted

Give Kids The World is a non-profit organization that exists to fulfill the wishes of all children with life-threatening illnesses. They bring kids and their families to central Florida to experience a memorable and joyful cost-free visit to the attractions and to enjoy the magic of the Give Kids the World Village..

You can reach them at 407-396-1114 .. and they are located 210 South Bass Road in Kissimmee, FL.

I'm not sure if they could or would accept food donations directly - but might be worth a call to see.

Can't agree with you more.

I would be happy to pick it all up and take it to the food bank for you if you are able to make the arrangements to donate the food to them. Feel free to PM me.

I've made a point to leave unopened food behind. I tell the cleaning person/staff to please help themselves.

The booklet of instructions that came with our villa (Sunseeker at Solana Resort) instructed us to leave any food we didn't want behind, and the housekeeping company will pick it up and donate it to the local food pantry.
