Overheard something funny at AK yesterday...

My DH and I got an ice cream cone, and were walking from Kali back to the front of the park, when a group of 4-5 young adults got behind us. They were rattling on and on about different things in the park, when they started talking about working at WDW. One of the girls pipes up: "OH! When I was in college, they had this thing were you could camp out at WDW for the entire summer and work at some of the parks...and it was sounded so neat, 'cause I would LOVE to camp out every night..and you got to eat hot dogs around a fire..." As I'm shooting an amused look at my DH, a man in the group chimes in: "OH, THAT WOULD BE SO COOL. I wanna do that! Let's join a college so we can camp out at Disney for an entire summer!!"




Just had to say....living in Florida, there is just NO WAY I could camp out every single night. Too much rain, humidity, bugs...whew! They were being serious!

Thats tooooo funny she must have been talking about the CP and they don't make enough money to really eat so they sneek back into the parks and eat all the hotdogs.

DD wants to do the CP when she's old enough and that would be the iceing on the cake for her.

Ew, no way would I camp in the summer in FL! My DILs have a camper and they always take that to FW but that's parking, not camping.
We used to live in Miami adn would go camping 2 or 3 times a year up in Williston- all during our "winter" months. It's too hot/buggy otherwise. We went once in Sept b/c it was for a scuba class and got rained out the whole time and had to stay at a double wide.

Give me Vista Way any day compared to camping all the time!

What is a CP? I saw that in another post as well, and can't seem to puzzle it out.

We used to talk about getting old, retiring, and working at WDW. But we went down in June this year, and you can keep it! Yuck! I saw bugs I hope to never ever see again in my life!

CP is the college program. You work at WDW for a semester and may or may not earn college credit.

The wedding I'm going to in WDW next week are two people who met in CP a few years ago (both worked checking IDs at PI). What a neat thing to have happen.

They didn't eat no stinkin' hot dogs or much of anything else for that matter.

MyGoofy26- I lived at Vista Way I loved it there actually! Great parties!
We used to have bbqs at 2 am almost every day. (luckily none of my roomates had to be up befor noon at the time

ETA- While I didn't meet my DH during my CP, we actually started dating 3 weeks before I left. He use dto drive up all the time to see him (and vice versa) and a few years later we got married. There really is nothing like driving the FL turnpike at midnight when you just got off shift to drive down to Miami for your weekend- on a Tuesday

I was in the CP in 1991 (fall semester) and that must have still been the early days of Vista Way. People from earlier programs talked about living in Snow White Village which was a trailer park. I think it might have been near the KOA campground and the trailers were really "rustic".

Anybody remember that?
