Is this true? I stayed at the AKL on the 5th to the 12th just a few weeks ago (yes, it still hurts being back to work, lol) and one night, we went to the bar, got a few drinks and walked around looking at the art in the lobby. Well, we ended up in that nook to the right of the lobby desk, with some art behind glass and such. We were on the far side of the center piece and some of the employees were walking by and this is all I could make out clearly

....a transfer in to go to the pirates resort for 2008, I hope I get it. (the other guy said) I didnt even bother, I don't think.....

and thats all I got. My wife and I looked at each other and said NO way.
Is this true? is there going to be a pirates resort?
or is there one I dont know about?
Or maybe it something Im not hearing right, like a new pirates ride or addition for 2008?
Either way, I dont think i was supposed to hear that. Just wondering if anyone can confirm this for me? I dont believe it my self, because Im sure we (the public) would have heard something about it by now, right?

I haven't heard anything about that but WOW! Wouldn't that be an amazing resort?!!

Do you think they were talking about this or the Princess/Pirate Party?

Don't think its that event.. since the guy said 2008 and that's a 3 day event in 2007

Hard to know if a Pirates resort will happen or not but it would be a fun one to stay at if it was built. With the success of the POC Movies it's not as far fetched a concept as a lot would think.

That would be pretty awesome. I think Disney tends to keep things a secret too till it's done, or close to it.:dance3:

I have a hard time imagining Disney could announce a new resort, get it built and have it ready for employees to staff next year.

perhaps the "re-branding" of an existing resort (as in a Value); part of extensive Pop Century?

or on site of never built Eagle Pines resort?

maybe even near DL?

thanks for posting...very interesting....

I would love them to build a pirate resort!!!! That would be fantastic..This is the 1st time I've heard anything like it, so I for sure wouldn't get my hopes up on it, but it would be great!

Lilolvr - the event you have in your post is different from the Pirate & Princess party. The Pirate & Princess parties are like MNSSHP or MVMCP. The Pirate Event in May is a multi-day, merchandise event which costs a lot more than a ticket to the princess & pirate party.

that would be really awesome! if it is true i wonder where it would be located? i have also thought disney should do a resort in an asian theme how cool would that be?:cloud9:

That was my thought as well. I also don't think they will "re-brand" an existing resort, it's not logical. (Although sometimes the things WDW execs do defy logic!)

I'm wondering if it's not some sort of an event to coincide with the next movie release and OP misunderstood?

I've always wondered why DCL didn't do a special pirate themed cruise to coincide with the releases.

I agree, I think it must have been a reference to something else.

Maybe something added to CBR or their new pool rehab at the beginning of next year? Caribbean Beach would be the only resort that it would make sense at if it was an add on.

I was thinking CBR as well. In any case, how cool would that be. pirate:

The idea that's supposed to be floating about is to overlay a "pirates" theme onto the Caribbean Beach Resort. It's the oldest of the Moderates and is due for a major refurbishment soon anyway. Disney has also learned a lot since its construction and there are some operational issues they'd like to fix as well (like moving registration closer to the actual rooms).

What actually happens depends on the budget approved. It could be as simple as changing cast costumes and the bedcovers, or it could include some work on the exterior of the guest buildings themselves.
