Overflowing garbage bin in front of the American pavilion

Agree. The trash can should be emptied, 100%. But like, just go tell someone instead of staging a photo shoot then making a post here. Shrug.

This was my thought too. oh wow, youve been going to the parks all your life yada yada. This is life in a pandemic, you chose to go to a theme park when there are known staff shortages in the hospitality industry, when at any given day, the management have no idea how many of their staff will call out sick today due to Covid.

What would have been FAR more helpful and mean so much to a CM, would be a quiet word, I know you must be having a hard time today, and but you might want to check the trash cans over there, they might have been missed on the last walk through.

As you keep pointing out you have been going to the parks for years, so how about spreading some Disney magic to the cm's and be discreet and helpful instead of putting them on blast all over the internet!!

Food Service CMs don't empty trash cans. They don't do walk throughs, either. CMs don't generally enjoy being informed about issues with other departments. They have enough to deal with doing their assigned duties.

As to why I posted a "photoshoot": because I knew it would attract a lot of comments. And, every time someone comments, it bumps the post to the top again. So, a lot of folks will see this. Most of the ones that comment may well be negative and dismissive, but hopefully the "right" people will see this, and it will lead to some change.

Which is what I'm hoping for, because, unlike someone else that posted here, I really don't want to wait until the 28th overflowing garbage can, then transfer to Legoland. :)

Oh I know its a custodial department issue, the people who wear the all white uniforms. I didnt think I had to be that specific, as you you have been going to the parks for years and would know which department and the type of uniforms they wear.

It would be very easy to find a custodial department cm or even a lead and give a quiet word instead of putting them on blast all over the internet.

Goodness, you are pedantic in pandemic!

You'd think, right? :ssst:

You went out of your way to stage a photo shoot, you went out of your way to put them on blast all over the internet, why could you not have gone out of your way to find a custodial cm and give a discreet mention to the overflowing bin.

Oh wait, that would not get you attention on the internet!

We sure did. And we had plenty of time to do it, while the garbage can sat there, overflowing, with guests dumping uneaten food into the recycling garbage can, and then just moving on, the whole time.

Yeah, if we searched far and wide, perhaps we could eventually locate a custodial worker someplace. But at that point we were already on our way out, and I didn't see one between that point and the exit near Nemo. It took me about 30 minutes to get there. If the garbage can was still overflowing by that time, I'd say Disney has bigger problems than this social media post.

Hey, maybe we should have just did what the other guests did: dump our food into the recycling bin, and get on with our day? I don't see anyone complaining about that response...

You have a valid point about this being unacceptable, but the photo shoot is over the top. You took the time to pose for pics, but did not take the time to do anything that would have contributed to a solution. :confused3

Gosh, you think people dont see what this is all about, lol, this is fun, btw, social media management is part of my job and was part of my thesis for my marketing degree, so I know all about attention seeking online and on social media and how to get it and what type of posts will get high reach and likes.

Again, putting them on blast on the internet is all about getting attention for you, and nothing to do with actually fixing the problem.

It's another communication channel. Do you really think Disney will intentionally ignore this issue out of spite, just because I posted about it?

I can just imagine the conversation they are having about this:

"How dare they post a photo of one of our overflowing garbage cans online?"

"Yeah, we need to teach those annoying guests a lesson. Let's cut the Custodial Budget in half just to show them what happens when they mess with us!" :hyper:

"Brilliant idea! And then we'll send them to Legoland the next time they try to enter the park..."

As someone who gets paid to deal with trolls like you on Google reviews and social media for my clients, people like you make our day, we laugh at people like you, as we know its all for the attention and that if you actually cared about solving the problem you would find a more discreet, offline way. This is actually fun, as I don't have to be professional and can tell you exactly what people think of you.

Honestly? I think you’re taking this way too seriously.
Lighten up. It’s a couple of photos of an overflowing trash can. Lol.

It's Disney's park, and it's Disney's garbage can. I didn't personally stuff it full of garbage, and I didn't fail to empty it.

If, as you say, Disney just laughs at photos like that, then I feel fully justified having posted it. And I'm enjoying this, too, because you are telling me what Disney really thinks about their parks, rather than just the PR spin they'd like us to believe.

I think whatever the point of the original post was, its become less effective with each post by the OP. Maybe just time to move along....
The point was the photo, the location and the time. With every additional post, it gets bumped to the top. I'm fine with that. Thanks for helping.

Fait Accompli? I chose to believe otherwise. I think Disney could do better if they were sufficiently motivated. Maybe if the guests were advocates for higher standards, that would be somewhat motivating?
Come on, despite cutting back the past 7-8 years on so many events, attractions, services that we have loved for so many years....the parks are packed. Despite all the letters people write or simply deciding not to patronage Disney anymore, there is always going to be someone to replace each of us. I wish you were right, but that philosophy never works unless everyone participates. It's like when they tell everyone to not buy gasoline on a certain day to send OPEC a message. It would probably work, but it can't be achieved because people are going to buy gas and they are going to keep going to WDW. Many of them don't even know how great it used to be.

Too true. We do need more robust competition in this space as well.

You know what's really remarkable? When Walt Disney conceived Disneyland, there was no competition. And look at what an amazing job they did with it. Much better than it had to be. Doesn't it make you respect them all that much more, knowing that they made something magical from their hearts, because they just felt it was the right thing to do?

Disney's current management is truly a bunch of pygmies standing on the shoulders of giants.

This is a clear example of cultural and artistic Entropy (or "Regression to the Mean", as they say in statistics.)

Woah, what did you buy? $130 for snack food and drink? Or was that a sit down meal?
We decided to do Food and Wine bites for our dinner once... that ended up costing us over $250 dollars for 4 people... Never again. They make so much money off the festival foods.

Was a fun idea and lots of variety, but way not worth that much.

OK, how many overflowing trash cans are acceptable in front of the American pavilion, in full view of everyone? Today, perhaps just one. Tomorrow, maybe two will be OK? Maybe, eventually, as long as you can find one, someplace, with some available space, that's acceptable?

Have you ever heard the phrase "Declining by Degrees?" Google that + Kevin Yee (because I probably cannot post a direct link here.) It's not like I'm the first person that has noticed the lowering standards at Disney. And it will continue as long as they can get people to pay without too many complaints.
While I’m not saying things are declining at Disney in general I am saying one full trash can is not the sign that things have gone to hell in a hand basket. It’s our bad timing on your part. A pattern is not made by a single incident. I’ll knock them when they deserve it. A single full trash can doesn’t make that list
