Overflowing garbage bin in front of the American pavilion

Am I the only one that thinks it's hilarious that someone took the time to not only take a picture of the offensive trash, but staged someone in front of it to point at it?

Of all the things to take pictures of at WDW, this is a choice.

Have a wonderful vacation! I hope the good outweighs the bad for you.
Thank you! We are local, but I will accept your best wishes in the spirit they were delivered.

Yeah, the photo got your attention. Hopefully, it will provoke action. That's why we took it and posted it. We don't want standards to decline, because we still remember the magic we grew up with.

email? Surely you use that if you use a message board
Point is, posting here isn't going to get any resolution at all.
I pinged them via Facebook this morning. The reply was very nice and apologetic. They also suggested that next time we experience something like this, we should find a Cast Member and notify them about the issue.

I still wonder why Disney needs my assistance to predict how quickly their various rubbish bins will fill up. You'd think they would know, by now, how frequently they need to send a Cast Member to empty them?

I'm not entirely sure that Cast Member in, for example, Food Services, want to be notified that the garbage needs emptying. But I'm sure they'll do their best to help.

Tweeting always gets Disney's attention. I rarely tweet but will reach out to Disney bc I always get a response. Tweet to @WDWGuestService.

I don't do Facebook....

I have seen this during festivals in the past (before covid). One of my best "crowd" photos is a girl throwing up in a trash can while attempting to "drink around the world".

I have seen overflowing trash cans, empty hand sanitizer stations, bathroom stalls with no toilet paper. Yes Disney is definitely shorthanded, most of the service/hospitality industry in FL is. However when Disney wants to keep increasing prices, cutting back on serving sizes, cutting back on merchandise quality on top of being short handed, I start to think of their actions as greed, not Covid19 related. They want that revenue they lost out on from their shutdown and they are determined to get it one way or another.

Agree. The trash can should be emptied, 100%. But like, just go tell someone instead of staging a photo shoot then making a post here. Shrug.

I just want to defend 'whiteness' for posting this. Bringing issues to the public's attention is a worthwhile endeavor.
Remember the days when WDW was dirt-phobic...a cigarette butt left on the sidewalk would be removed almost immediately.

That a trash can is full? To each their own, I guess.

We shouldn't have to tell a Cast Member that the trash is full. This is something Disney can get right, and should get right, without having to rely on Guests alerting them when there is a problem.

I grew up going to Disneyland. I was a passholder for so many years. Now, I'm one, here. Prior to COVID, I cannot remember a single time when the trash cans at Disneyland were literally overflowing with garbage. I just took it for granted that this was something Disney didn't allow to happen. It was part of the magic.

And, I don't think that Disney really needs guests to point out that garbage cans aren't always getting emptied (among other things.)

Because I think they know it. At all levels of the company. They are aware of it, just as they are aware that they are offering less and charging more for it in other areas. And as long as we (mostly) suffer in silence, and continue to pay up anyway, they are going to keep trying to push this as far as they can. I don't really want that to happen, so I'm going to make some noise. Sorry if that bugs some folks.

Or maybe they were just short staffed and someone came by like two minutes later and emptied it. For the one garbage can you do see crammed how many thousands have you seen that are well serviced over the years? They do have rounds to make and in the meantime things get messy. Lets face it, we aren't living in the days of pristine Disney anymore. They still do a pretty darn good job of keeping their parks clean, but it isn't ever going to be like it used to.

Fait Accompli? I chose to believe otherwise. I think Disney could do better if they were sufficiently motivated. Maybe if the guests were advocates for higher standards, that would be somewhat motivating?

The parks weren't great cleanliness-wise when we were there in the beginning of December.

Was every trash can you came upon full? Half of them? Or just this one? Ever think that it was just a one off? Did you stay around to see how long it took it to be emptied? I think you've made a mountain out of a small trash can.

Bottom line is, yes you should say something to someone there, not a message board that can't do diddly about it.

Again, telling a message board isn't going to motivate them. You said it right here, guest needs to be the advocate to the higher standard by speaking up.

OK, how many overflowing trash cans are acceptable in front of the American pavilion, in full view of everyone? Today, perhaps just one. Tomorrow, maybe two will be OK? Maybe, eventually, as long as you can find one, someplace, with some available space, that's acceptable?

Have you ever heard the phrase "Declining by Degrees?" Google that + Kevin Yee (because I probably cannot post a direct link here.) It's not like I'm the first person that has noticed the lowering standards at Disney. And it will continue as long as they can get people to pay without too many complaints.
