Do many of you double book. Is Disney still cancelling people's adr's if you have more than one at a time.

They allowed my DH to make two ressies for the same meal when he couldn't get what I asked him to, but he had to promise that he would cancel one of them (and he did as soon as he'd talked to me). They didn't say anything about canceling us, but the CM did say it wasn't allowed.

I've not seen one person post a first hand account of having an ADR canceled for double booking.

I do not double book and think it is wrong as a regular practice. I can see reasons why it might be needed in a few circumstances and think sometimes it might be okay.

just a friendly note- you may want to put your flame suit on, Double booking is a very hot topic.

Just a quick note. A few months back, Disney had informed several guests over the phone that they would be reviewing many ADR's and if they found "double booking" they would delete all of your ADR's. Not just the ones that are double booked. I don't know if they are still doing this, but I don't recommend double booking for this reason.

This was posted on another thread but I don't have the link.

Don't know if they are still cancelling adrs. But they HAVE. it happened to my neighbor, but she blatantly double, triple booked and sometimes quad booked meals, for 10 days every dinner meal...so they did cancel out all but one per day on her.I had Boma booked for 9/24, and Dh called to switch it to Marrakesh( without checking with me first). They booked him, but made him call back within 2 hrs to cancel on or she said both would be forfeit. This was during free dining.Maybe it was a threat, but honestly not worth testing it.

I'll be honest and say that I used to but with the availability getting the way it is, I don't anymore.

Just to mention that there is a new dining reservation system in the works and who knows what will happen with the changes.

No I have not double booked. but i can tell you it is wat easier to make up were we want to eat when it is 90 days out. When I had to make ADRs at 180 it was tough. I just got the must dos at 180 & then called back later to get the others & still changed things a million times.

After stumbling across this thread, I called Disney to cancel the ADRs where we were legitimately double booked (I booked then DH found something else he wanted to do and he booked too). I'm traveling with my parents and in-laws and all the reservations are under our name - I thought it would be nice to change the names on some of the ADRs we have booked just so none of them gets canceled because on paper, it looks like we're overbooked.

On certain days I do have two reservations under my name at different restaurants. The CM I spoke with said the name couldn't be changed on the reservation since it was already booked :confused3 .

So should I be worried that another CM will come along and just start canceling things because they think I'm overbooked? Is it possible that one group will get to their restaurant only to find their reservation was canceled? Do I have yet another thing to worry about?:rolleyes1

I am not attempting to "cheat" the system. We are planning a trip with a large number of people all staying under one reservation number as we will be in a grand villa. There are a few meals we want to have at different places and I am just wondering how to go about this without getting adr's cancelled. Although I will say that while I have never double booked before I am contemplating it given how difficult the system has become. I am a planner but it is ridiculous that I am supposed to know when and where I want to eat 180 days prior to my trip when park hours and schedules have not even been released. Just seems that Disney is forcing people to find loopholes to make their vacations more flexible and fun. IMHO :rolleyes1

Good grief, no wonder it's so hard to get reservations. It's very selfish to double book, and I would think very little of anyone who does it.

If you are going to book different restaurants for various members of the same party because you don't all want to eat in the same place, that should be fine. Give them a different name and phone number for each reservation. I would make sure you give them a name and phone number of someone who is actually going to be there to check in.

Give the reservationist phone numbers, not a reservation number.

I have never done it. I agree it is hard to figure out where you want to eat but we choose familiar and new restaurants to balance out and we stick to it.

good luck with your large party.

Today we "double booked" a meal. I booked Brown Derby for my daughter and Son in law, and Prime time 50's for myself and my two grandsons. They are only 10 min. apart and if either one gets cancelled I will be extreemly upset. The CM said it wouldn't be a problem, but do I need to call and put the brown derby reservation in my daughter or son in laws name, just to be safe?
Thanks.

Do people really think it is rude to double book as long as you cancel as soon as you nail down your final plan say when the park hours are released??

Um, yeah it is rude as you can't be at two places at the same time and your reservation locks it out for others, until you make up your mind, and change it over and over. Should be FIRST COME FIRST SERVE!!!!!!!

I for one would appreciate it if people would not do multiple bookings. I would not do it. I realize it's tempting and gives you some flexibility and choices as to where you want to eat, but it does seem selfish. I have been trying to get just a few ADRs for our trip and it has become a part time job. Yesterday I was this close to getting a Chef Mickey, but the two openings disappeared in front of the CMs eyes as she was telling me about it! I asked one of the CMs why it was so hard to get reservations at a time of supposed low attendance, and she said it was just that there are only a few table service restaurants for each park. Good point.

I'm not sweating it though. I got a CP breakfast and a Coral Reef lunch and I have had good luck doing walk ups in the past (not during busy season of course). I think since many people do double book, they must have a lot of no-shows. If we can't get in anywhere, we'll do CS and be fine with it. No way I could book 180 days out. We don't usually know we're going until a couple of months before. I think free dining is over and thank goodness for that. Maybe that will make it easier.

You can't! That's one of the many problems with Disney's reservation system. I called to try to switch the name/phone number on some of mine for the same exact reason, when I found out it could be a problem (thank goodness for there boards), and they flat-out told me it couldn't be done.:headache:
If Disney does try to "correct" my "problem" somebody is going to hear about it. The CM I spoke with said that since I brought it to their attention it shouldn't be an issue...lets hope.

The only way I've ever double booked is if you have a reservation in place, and want to change it. The Disney Rep will then book you two reservations, and cancel the one that you don't want.

Double booked for approx. 5 minutes.
