I know we can't use the metal hook thingy's that come with the holder, but what do you use instead to hang your OTD shoe holder?
You can put a loop on the top and use the hooks in the room (and bathroom). Or use a hanger in the closet. Or, if you don't have a lot of hanging clothes, hang it directly on the rod in the closet. Those are the most common methods now.I know we can't use the metal hook thingy's that come with the holder, but what do you use instead to hang your OTD shoe holder?
Thanks, that's a good ideaI use two Nit Ize 3" Gear ties ( https://www.niteize.com/product/Gear-Tie-3.asp ). One goes through each grommet hole at the two ends of the over-door-holder and attaches it to a hangar. I bring my own plastic hangar, but you could easily use a hangar that comes in the room. Note that ours is only 3 pockets x 3 pockets, about has "long" as a shirt, and not one of the dress-length ones, but this method would work with either length.
Our Nov 2014 trip we hung it on one of the metal hangars inside the room.
This trip I just hung it inside the closet. I think that is what we will do in the future.
For this trip I also bought a RuMe Garment Organizer ( http://www.myrume.com/products/garment-travel-organizer ). During travel I used the garment bag section to hang a shirt and a couple other things that would do better being hung and folded than all rolled up like the rest of my clothesFolded up it fit well in my checked eBags hardside suitcase.
Once we got to the ship I hung the garment bag in the closet and transferred some other clothes into the "packing cubes" (e.g. underwear, socks, other undergarments that are used every day and a pain to dig out of luggage -- I left them in their packing cubes and put the packing cubes into the garment bag pockets, which helped with reminding what was what).
This set-up worked really well for us and meant things were easily accessible. Also, since we left the murphy bed down the entire time, blocking a few drawers, having the garment bag pockets, which basically were like vertical drawers, helped a lot. Each person gets their garment bag thing, and each person gets a hangar-hanging "over the door" mesh shoe-hangar (not used for shoes).

Those are adhesive - adhesives of any type are not allowed.would 3M hooks work?
I come with lots of stuff, and I have 2 girls with lots of stuffThere's plenty of storage areas. The over the door holders aren't necessary.

I used two magnetic hooks and hung it on the door-but we didn't really need it for storage. It did make some things like sun block and sunglasses easier to get to.
Since they describe themselves as "adhesive", and DCL policy say "any adhesive or tape." I take that to mean you can't use them. The 3M command hooks are banned?? The whole purpose of them is that they DON'T damage walls. We normally hang a few of them in our room for hats and lanyards.
