Over-sized white tee-shirts - a new gang symbol

The OP (me) is a man ... (LOL)

But thank you for clarifying my original question. Yes I am talking about the shirts that hang off the shoulder and go down to nearly the knees. The people wearing these also had that "swagger" that says Don't Mess with Me

I was thinking about how to respond to the multiple post about what my description of an "urban youth" was but I think you hit the nail on the head. Someone else posted the term thug which I also feel is appropriate.

Lol. Sorry!

I can't stand it when people get offended at the term Urban Youth. We KNOW not all kids who live in the city (ie. Urban areas) are punks, but a lot of them are, and they all have that gangsta rap wanna-be thug dress and swagger.
 It's not very becoming.

Hopefully most of them will grow out of it when they become adults, but sadly, some don't. We have a girl at my office who still dresses like a thug and speaks in hip hop slang on the phone to customers. It's awful.

Yep. You can't imagine how big these shirts are. They definitely look like dresses and they are paired with the super low pants or with athletic pants. At the one high school i work at they t-shirts are pink too. We have some boys who are dressing all in pink, some all in white.

There is a song played here in Atlanta about white t's. Some schools are telling kids they can not wear them. I do believe that it is another fad. I have seen kids wear them long enough to reach their knees.

I wonder if they realize how ridiculous they look?

I don't know. I never really followed fads in school. In the 80's I was one of maybe 6 girls in my class who didn't have huge bangs. I thought they looked silly so I didn't do it. After that, I dunno, I just always dressed in jeans that fit, and various types of tops that also fit.

Maybe I'm just not "hip".

;)

I may be wrong, but I think the oversized shirts OP is talking about are the ridiculously GIANT ones....Like a size XXXL on a 14 year old boy that weighs 140 lbs. I tend to see them a lot, paired with baggy jeans securly fastened with a belt (completely with HUGE shiney belt, bearing the young mans nickname) around the KNEES.....

These boys look like they are wearing dresses....it's pretty silly, actually...I remember this being the style in the 90s--in fact...my brother had this kid who kept bothering him in junior high. He was infront of my house saying nasty things to my brother, and my father chased him away. As he was running, his humungous jeans fell down-showing off his tighty whiteys, and causing him to trip over his own pants :teeth:

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I bet he didn't feel so "cool" after that.
