I got a pin code for free dining and called about the Boardwalk. For 4 adults, I was quoted $5021.36 for waterview & 4346.48 for standard. It is tickets, room & dining. I tried to break it down and if even if we spent $250 a day for food ($1500), bought 6 day hoppers at $275 each ($1100) that would mean we are paying $2421 for 6 nights which breaks down to be $403 per night for the room!! Could we not get the room cheaper than this if we just booked everything separate ourselves? Is there a better deal out there now than the pin code free dining offer?

Free dining means you pay rack rate for the room and tickets.

Boardwalk rooms range from $335 (standard view during value season) to $640 (water view during holiday season). And the Boardwalk also has other types of rooms as well -- club level, deluxe rooms, garden suites, also DVC studios, and 1, 2 and 3 BR villas).

But depending on your dates, it doesn't sound all that out of line to me.

The dining plan has a set price - $40/adult, $11/child per night of your stay, so that should be easy enough to subtract out of your price. The total of the dining is what your discount is.

edited: 4 adults for 6 nights = $160/night in dining x 6 nights = $960 is your savings. I don't think the free dining is usually a great deal in a deluxe resort vs. a room discount - sometimes you can get room discount around 40% (sometimes). But in this case, a 40% room discount would only save you $804 (based on the cheapest room during value season - $335), so the free dining is a better deal, IF you want the dining plan. You kind of have to crank the numbers yourself for your situation to see what is the best deal.

If you're going soon, I also think it sounds right. I plugged in the BW waterview, with the park tickets and dining and the total came to about $6000. If you deduct the dining plan from this you take off about $1000.

yup, sounds right to me. our room (granted it's club level deluxe room) is 5001 for 7 nights. but that does not include tickets or anything.... I got 40% off pin, so it's 3k! Much better!

Go to Disney's website double check. Get a quote for the same package (tickets and room) without dining and it should match that price you got over the phone.
