Okay...I've had it with my oven. Several years ago, the lower baking element burned out. My dad replaced it and it was fine for about three years. In July, that element burned out. We went from July to October just using a small toaster oven. As the weather was getting colder, I ordered the replacement element and had a neighbor put it in at the end of October. Well, I be danged if it didn't die Monday morning! I know I need to just get a new oven/stove, but it is not in the budget now. I have pulled out the trusty toaster oven from July, but it's really too small. I know I remember reading other threads about folks that have gone for some time without an oven. Obviously, I need a bigger and better toaster/convection oven. I would love to hear ideas and suggestions! Thanks!

How about an over roaster?

They can fit a turkey and even 9x13 pans.
You can find them for ~$40.

I have gone without an oven for almost 2yrs. Trust me its not because I want to lol. Hubby wants to redo the whole kitchen instead of just replacing the stove. :confused3 We got an Oyster toaster oven from Best Buy. Its a good size as I can get my 2qt casserole dish in there but not big enough to cook a full size pizza.

I second the turkey roaster. I've baked cookies, bread, and muffins in mine in the summer.

I hadn't thought about the roaster. Is that like a Nesco or something? Does a casserole dish really fit in it?

Hi, our oven actually broke 3 days bfore Christmas last year and took about 2 months to get fixed. I borrowed a large convection/toaster oven, which I think sells for about $100, and it worked out great. I roasted a turkey in it on Christmas. Also, we utilized the grill alot.

That's what I'm looking for! It wouldn't be so bad if the timing weren't right before the holidays and all the cooking that goes along with that. I'm off to go pick up my college daughter today, so I'm going to go do a little toaster oven shopping. I did check craigslist, and there are some ovens that would work. Unfortunately, I'm a single mom with no male friends and no way to go out of town (none are local, of course) to go get the oven. Ughhhh......

been without an oven since summer...... u would be amazed the things u can make in a crockpot..... making a small turkey for xmas eve in mine this year

Our element is out on our stove also. I pulled out my Wolfgang Puck Bistro. It is a convection oven, roaster, has a pizza oven on the bottom, rotisserie, lots of cooking options...I just love it! I think I got it for around $100 on HSN years ago.

I went to Wal Mart today and found an Oster Extra Large Toaster Oven for about $99. There was a GE turkey roaster for $29. The Oster was huge and would fit just about anything I wanted to do in it. Looks like that will be my Christmas gift to myself this year.
