Outside insurance but for 3 different rooms

Hi! We have 3 families (but all relatives) traveling with us, but we have two different reservations. One reservation has my family in a room, grandparents in another room, second reservation has the other set of grandparents.

Now insurance-wise, can we just tally up the total and buy it for all of us in one quote? Or do I need to separate it by room, or separate it by reservations?

Thanks so much! PS - what's the website to compare the plans? I have a pre-existing medical issue and need that covered....just put down deposits yesterday :)!

Insurance doesn't cover rooms, but people. I would suggest each family get their own insurance.

Our insurance company required a different policy for each home address. So in my case, it was my family in one room and my sister's family and my mother in the other room (two linked reservations). But three policies. However, we were able to "link" the policies since it was the same trip, meaning that for example, if one of us had to cancel for a qualifying reason, all of us could cancel if we chose to, or some of us could still go, our decision. Three policies cost us more than 1 big one would have (my mother had to pay the largest in percentage terms), but we didn't have that option. It was still fairly cheap.

Excellent to know you were able to link them. Thank you!!! Not as intimidating of a process as I thought.

To us, the key was to talk to them on the phone. It made understanding our choices so much easier. The explained all of the cancelation options, and their costs and we chose what worked best for us. Also, it is easy to add additional things to the policy if you choose. Some things are refundable up to the last minute so don't need to be included, but for example the DCL excursions become non-refundable three days prior to sale, and since we had a real concern that my BIL might have to cancel at the last minute, we added those into our insurance. Mostly so that he wouldn't feel bad if he had to cancel. Point is, get the insurance at the beginning on the costs you know you have, and you can always add things if needed. It was a easy process.

I chatted online with the insurance people. We are in 2 rooms...grandparents and 1 kid in a room and the rest of us in another room
I was told to buy one insurance policy for the grandparents and one for us and our 3 kids (even though one of them is in a room with the grandparents) because we live in different states.
