Staying at Liki Tiki Village.... any imput? Good, only, please... ;) kidding, all opinions, experiences welcome...

Anyway, full kitchen (I assume) available, we are a family of 6, so we will eat in alot, but I did buy the Orlando Entertainment Book, lots of coups, looking for advice, ideas, on restaurants we may enjoy.
Kids are 16,12,6,4 so we are looking for a bit of all!

TIA
Kath

We always seem to wind up staying in that neck of the woods on 192. A couple of our favorites are:

Carrabbas Italian Grill - kind of like Olive Garden but better to me. They have 1/2 price happy hour drinks and give you the bread with dipping oil. Yummy.

Cracker Barrel - for breakfast...or anytime. Plus it is fun to browse in their gift shop if you have to wait for a table.

RedLobster - food is not what I would call spectacular, but my kids love seafood and this is reasonably priced for it.

Publix Supermarket - in Orange Lake area - they have great prepared food items if you are tired and don't want to sit in a restaurant. You can pop in, pick something up and eat it at home.

Have fun.

Great ideas Heather, thanx!

I've always wanted to try Cracker Barrel, now that I hear they have a souvenier shop... I'm there! :)
Red Lobster too, I've been curious about. LOVE their commercials. But alas, I am from a fishing community and ordering seafood from any chain is almost sacreligious. :confused3 I may have to sneak it in, being out of town and all. :lmao:
Publix I think it's expensive, no? I was gearing towards Super Walmart, which I believe is relatively close by as well.....

I agree about the seafood. To me there is nothing like New England seafood. However, we have always had a decent meal at Red Lobster.

Publix is actually not very expensive....probably more than Walmart, but they do have a great selection and a lot of prepared items to make an easy meal.

We also like Tony Roma's ribs...there is also another barbeque place on 192 but the name escapes me. If you are headed toward Disney, it would be on the left side of the highway. I think it may start with a B....someone else may know what I'm talking about.

We love Cici's. Decent pizza and dirt cheap! The pasta is great. Everyone on here recommends Sweet Tomatoes too. I have not yet tried it but next time, definitely.

My sister, also from Massachusetts (Cape Cod) loves Liki Tiki Village and has stayed there for the past three years. They usually spend part of their vacation at a Disney Hotel and then the other part at Liki Tiki and do lots of activities around the pool area. She has 2 young girls who love it. I, on the other hand, have older teenagers who love to be on Disney property so they can come and go to the parks on their own - they love sleeping late so they can just meet us. I visited Liki Tiki when they were staying there once and it looked nice, but I never stayed there. It does have a full stocked kitchen and I believe my sister got some sort of fast food from the pool/bar area and brought it up. There's a good Cracker Barrel near, we found a small pizza place that made great NY style thin crust pizza. I think it was called NY Pizza and was on 192 between Disney and Liki Tiki. And if you are used to New England seafood, Red Lobster won't cut it for you. A few years ago a Red Lobster opened up on Cape Cod and closed down just as quickly. It's now an Olive Garden. There are a zillion places along that 192 stip. You're bound to find something for everyone. Pick up some discount books at the airport, rental car, restaurants, etc. Have fun.

We love Cracker Barrel! Yummy! I've never had a bad meal at one. We also like the Ponderosa breakfast buffet. It's under $5 (drinks are extra) and it's all you can eat.

KKCannon, thanx SO much for the good word on LTV! I have been reading reviews, and like all, they are SO mixed. I know pics don't tell the whole story, but for my brood, it looked like it would work. I will for sure post a report upon return and let others know my .02.
Also thanx for the RL heads up. I'm sure your right, seafood is.... well, better right from the sea. ;)
The thing is, I just bought the entertainment book, at a discount, so of course I'm trying to get some money back from it... I'd love to use the coups available. Not finding Cracker Barrel, mad bumma, or some of the other highly talked about restaurants in there. This may be another one of those "gotta buy but never use" things. :confused3
I'm also not completely sure of the location of LTV in regards to where things are... I know we will not go out of the way to save a few bucks, so....
Anyway, keep the info coming, it is being noted and appreciated!

I remembered another place that my husband loves to eat at. It's called the Market Street Diner and it's in Celebration which is just off of Rte 192 and south of Disney. It's like an old time ice cream parlor/diner with lots of good comfort food and very generous portions. Celebration is a really nice town to walk around, maybe go to a movie or just sit at the lake in big rocking chairs. Quite peaceful compared to the hustle bustle of Disney and Kissimmee.
