With 3 weeks from today being the start of my "Magical Vacation", I had one final question.

In the case of a non-emergency, yet neccessary, trip to a doctor while down in Orlando, where could I go?

Thanks in advance. :thumbsup2

I have heard that there is somewhere on WDW property that you can go. I'm not sure where. I have a friend whose DS came down with Strep Throat, he went there, they gave him a shot of antibiotics, he was back in the parks the next day (with no fever).

There is an after hours pediatric clinic near Universal that is called, oddly enough, After Hours Pediatrics. It is in a shopping center with a CVS, which was very convenient for my DD's ear infection - doctor visit and antibiotics all in the same place! They were great, but they don't open until 5 pm (once the regular doctor's offices close). (I don't think they do grown-ups, though!) There are probably urgent care centers closer to Disney, but we have used this one, so I can recommend it! :thumbsup2

There's an off-site clinic that is recommended by the WDW hotels. Just ask at the front desk. I can't remember the name of the place, but it was decent. Expect a wait, however. I had to take DD in for pinkeye and I think we had about a 1.5 hour wait and we had arrived within 45 minutes of opening.

Also, if someone becomes really ill or you don't have access to a car, I've heard here on the boards that the same clinic has a service that will send a doctor to your hotel room for an extra surcharge.

And if you stay on property, Disney will provide transportation to one of the urgent care clinics close by.

There is a great list of places and clinics that you can go to or will come to you in the unofficial guide to Disney World. Lots of options:) Love that book!

On our trip last September my 9 year old came down with a stomach virus! Was just concerned at first then got worried when we remembered that he had eaten half of a hamburger that was very uncooked the day before his dad or me saw that it was so raw. Called the front desk at the POP and asked for a doctor and they refered us to the Florida Hospital Urgent Care which was real close to Downtown Disney. The CM even asked if we needed transportation! :thumbsup2 (We had our car.) We did have to wait a while but it was worth it to get him checked. Luckily the next day he was better and by the third day he was fine. :yay: My insurance even paid for the visit. This was something I always wondered what I would do if he got sick on our trips, but it really was handled quite easily! Hopefully you won't need the service, but I feel better knowing its there and close by. :)
