I am still having trouble with my Outlook Express mail program. The messages download but I am unable to view them in the preview pane or when I click on them. (To see them , I have to go to properties, details and message source and thread through all the computer jargon to find the message.)
Does anyone have any idea how to fix it? I have spent numerous hours at Microsoft's site with no luck.
TIA,

What version of Outlook do you have? Have you updated to the most recent version? Have you scanned your computer for viruses? Have you tried unchecking "preview pane" and if so can they open that way? Sorry for the questions...just some things to consider.

I just had problems with my Outlook Express (Explorer and mail). I tried downloading the newer version from the microsoft site and then nothing worked on my computer. This started last Thurs. I called Microsoft support, and after three days of speaking on the phone for a total of about 11 or 12 hors the problem was fixed last night. It costs $35.00 for the phone call.

I have only been using OE for a couple weeks (I had msn before or aol). A friend of mine forwarded something to me and I received an error message saying that the 'unsafe text' had been removed. At first I thought it might of had a virus in it, but when the same thing happened again yesterday, I got stumped:confused: I thought maybe my settings for the email prohibited attachments, but when I checked , everything looked normal. I evidentially found the message source button that enabled me to look at the attachments. Did tech support say it was an OE problem or was something up with your settings?

There were a bunch of things wrong. What he finally did after clearing up different things was to uninstall Windows, and then reinstall it. The one thing he did say over and over was my system was corrupted.

Finally figured out, all by myself :D , how to get attachments to work with OE. I could never get them to open without going into Message Source.

1. In OE, go to Tools
2. Click on Options
3. Click on Security
4. Uncheck the box that says block attachments
5. Click, Apply, Ok, then restart the computer

I did that and was finally able to open the attachment by just clicking on the paperclip on the email.

Hope this helps!

Colleen

I tried that, didn't work. Thanks for trying. My problem is that I can't see any message at all, no matter what I do. I can see the subject line and who it's from but that is it. To actually view the messages I have to click on properties, then message source.
I am seriously considering a new computer.
