DH and I had a "discussion" about this today. Thought I'd see what others do........

3 of us on my street have their outside decorations up. Nothing huge, just some white lights on our porches. 1 person turns them off when they go to bed, the other leaves them on all night (I still see them on when I'm taking DS to school in the morning). We haven't decided about ours yet........

What do you do??

I think turn them off at bedtime for safety and conservation. A timer is a good idea.

We have ours on a timer and they run from about 5:00 or whenever it gets dark enough to about midnight.

Off at bedtime each night, except Christmas Eve. Then, they are left on all night so that Santa can find our house easier. (Of course, I don't think we'll have lights this year. We're having difficulty finding a day for DH to put them up. Oh well....)

We have a timer. They go on at 5 & off at midnight.

turn them off when I go to bed. It saves money and it's better for the environment.

We turn them off when we go to bed, except on Christmas Eve. We leave them on all night then.

Since I work until 10pm most nights my holiday lights are on a timer and my apartment is aglow from 5:30pm until 11:30pm. :)

I'll eigth that,

4-5 pm until midnight

Since I got LED lights, I'm more apt to leave them on all night. Before, I was afraid they'd burn out too fast or burn too hot and set the deck on fire or something.

We bought solar powered led lights this year. They are really bright have an eight hour charge time and cost not one penny after your initial investment. once you set them up they sell outdoor sets you have nothing to do they have light sensitivity sensor when its dark they turn on when its light they turn off. I love them.
