Outdoor Christmas Decorating Tips

OK this is our first Christmas in our first house and I am bound and determined to decorate it since I love how Christmas decorations look. Since we can't do any decorating next weekend I thought I would give it a shot this weekend.

Over my lunch hour I went to the store and I bought outdoor extension cords, lights and hooks. Now I have to figure out what to do with it all.

Does anyone have any tips for me that might help?
