Outdoor ceremony and/or reception?

Hi Everyone!

Has anyone had (or planning on having) an outdoor ceremony and/or reception at DW?? Our ceremony is planned for the GF beach (next to the WP) and our reception will be at the Summerhouse patio at the GF...I think this will be beautiful, and the sun will be setting over the water in the middle of our reception...I'm just a little worried that this will be a LOT of outdoor time for our guests. How was everybody else's outdoor weddings??

We had our pre-reception at the Summerhouse and it was such a beautiful location, the guests were wowed!
I was worried about the weather, but it turned out to be a lovely sunny, cloudless day, albeit quite hot.
The heat shouldn't be too much of a problem in January, probably the opposite, especially if you're going to be outside after sunset.

I agree that this will be beautiful although it may be a bit cold after the sun has gone down, just remind everyone to bring a light jacket and then thats your problem solved

How did you find out about the summerhouse? its sounds nice, do you have any pictures? also do you know if you can book this through DFTW as I can't remember seeing it on their website.

Yep..you book it through Disney. I found out (through these boards, actually!) that you can pretty much have your ceremony or reception anywhere as long as its not already booked. We really wanted a relaxed/beachy reception...so we wanted it to be primarily outdoors, not in a ballroom. Someone showed me pictures of the Summerhouse and I loved it because there are tons of palm trees and its right on the lake.

I do have a couple pictures of the location saved to my computer, however I can't figure out how to upload photos into this response... (except for in the signature part)..do you know how I can do this?

I'm having my ceremony and reception outdoors too. I'm a little concerned about it also but I think everyone will be ok. My wedding is in the evening so it wont be too hot and sunny.

You should be fine in January. This past January was gorgeous down here! Just a light jacket in the evening but beautiful during the day.

The easiest way to upload pictures is to use a web site like Photo Bucket. Once you upload them you can copy the link under the photo that is called "IMG Code" into your response and the picture will show up right in your message.
