We decided *gasp* not to do Disney this year and to do semilocal trips for vacation this year. Trying to be grown up and save $$ to fix up the house. Well, we took a weekend trip to Mystic, CT and stayed at a Holiday Inn. An average hotel/motel clean not too expensive. When we got home my 3 yr old DS said to my DH " Don't be taking me to anymore show & tells (for some reason when he was 1 yrs old he started calling hotels show & tells and the name stuck) like that. What happened to Disney ?now those are show & tells!!! See DVC has already ruined my 3 yr old for regular hotels!!!!!::yes::

I know what you mean...Your post reminds me of a trip we took to Williamsburg Va...My DS was 7 years old and I was pregnant with our daughter, when I asked my DS if he wanted to go to VA or Disney for vacation that year and he chose VA. After touring the 2nd colonial home in Williamsburg, my DS looks up at me and says..."Gee, I should've picked Disney!!!!!  He is now 17 and he is still picking Disney!:)

For my nephews seventh birthday I told him we could stay anywhere he wanted at Disney, well he saw the Dragon Slide at POFQ and wanted to stay there...I even tried to bribe him with photo's of the other slides be no he wanted to stay at the resort with the dragon...we check in he walks into the room and says"Hey, where's the kitchen and other bedroom?"

That is a great story. Children do sometimes really tell it like it is, even at 3. How cute!

And I thought our sons had high standards! These are great stories.

TwingleMum,

That was soooo cute!

We have been going to Disney at least once a year since my son was born. Each year I ask him, do you want to try some place else this time and each year I get the answer "No, I want to go to Disney." Well, he is 16 years old and we are still going to Disney!

When we tell someone about an upcoming Disney trip, we're usually asked "what hotel are you staying at" by those who don't know we own DVC.

My 9 year old's response to that question is always the same-- he says "we don't stay at hotels, we stay at resorts". :)

When we went to Nebraska to visit relatives, our then 5yo was shocked that all hotels didn't have washer and dryers in the room!
Talk about setting their standards too high!
