Out of my comfort zone...airfare San Diego to MCO?

I can tell you all you want to know about SWA price patterns from RI in September. Now, with a daughter joining us from San Diego, I have NO IDEA what a good price for airfare is for September travel. Any ideas? :3dglasses

Last year I was able to get airfare from SAN to MCO under $300, now I'm looking at airfare for this year and it's $400 - 650. I'm hoping for a 'sale' but if I see anything under $400 I'm booking!

Go to www.kayak.com and enter your dates, then sign up for price alerts. They will send you regular updates on the current price so you can get an idea of what is a good price.

Thanks for the information. So, if SWA post a $146 rate one way, is that about as low as they go in September. I know in RI, in September, (I play the Southwest game), I can get fares about $89 one way. I don't need the rock bottom price but I'd like to get as good a deal as possible (Duh, right?) :3dglasses

You might want to try to wait for a lower fare than that...but it is a gamble. I think I'd take the $146 one way. If it goes lower, you can always book for the lower fare and your daughter can use that credit within 1 year of initial purchase.

I would throw VirginAmerica into the mix also. My friends have had several great flights with them!

I would be all over a $146 one way myself. We are looking at flights from Southern oregon and the cheapest i am finding $650.:scared1::eek::scared1::eek:

I'm not a Southwest expert, nor am I in San Diego (perhaps I'm totally useless LOL), but I can give you an idea of what I look for in fares from Los Angeles to Orlando. I imagine the prices will be fairly similar from San Diego. All prices below are round-trip.

Excellent Fares: $220-$260
Good Fares: $260-$300 (I usually find and buy tickets in this range)
Decent Fares: $300-$350
Only if necessary: $350 and higher

This is a very good idea. I have 5 price alerts set with Kayak right now for a variety of upcoming trips. The only caveat is that Kayak doesn't include Southwest in their searches, but if you're just trying to gauge what the range in fares will be, then it's a very good tool.

You are all so helpful! I feel like I have some idea what to expect now....many thanks. :3dglasses

Ooh, good suggestion. Nonstop, beautiful planes, amazing service.

Right now, pretty expensive. And they do NOT give credit without a fee, if you find the cost goes lower. AND they charge for even the first bag.

But they are amazing.
