^ My mom who was born in 1929 used to say making love when she meant kissing......

Always knew the first one as "what's that got to do with the cost of tea in China?" Just means a statement is irrelevant if I remember correctly."What's that got to do with the tea in China"
Does a bear sh-- in the woods?! (when you are confirming something someone says)

The second one is still the same. But the more sophisticated have changed it to... "Does a large dromedary defecate in the desert?" or the old standard... "Is the Pope Catholic?" still is heard from time to time.
Another variation was "the PRICE of tea in China" either way means the same, but, I have heard it both ways. After I typed it I thought something was missing....my parents used to say it all the time when we were growing up as well as the Pope one! And yes, that's what I have always understood the meaning to be.
