My family and I went to WDW last weekend to celebrate my birthday; we flew in Friday night and flew back home Sunday night, through O’Hare. We stayed at BCV for cash (DVC members) in a 1-bedroom. We sent a USPS priority package ahead the Tuesday before (toiletries and suntan lotion) and it was waiting for us on arrival.
We had never been to WDW in September before. We had the best time! The parks were not crowded, and while the temperature was hovering around 90 degrees the whole time, the lack of crowds made at least maneuvering through the parks pleasant. We also didn’t have a drop of rain. We went to Typhoon Lagoon Saturday am, Epcot in the pm, AK on Sunday am, and MK Sunday pm.
What struck us the most was the lack of strollers! We have never seen WDW so kid-free. I will definitely consider going in September again. I’m not anti-kid, I have two of my own (11 and 9), but the atmosphere was so different this trip.
We have been to WDW several times since Soarin’ opened, and have never been able to get a FP that had a return time within the hour! This was at 2:00 in the afternoon! On Saturday! The standby time was longer (wait time 60 minutes) than the FP return time. At AK, Expedition Everest FP was the same situation, at 11 am. We walked on to Primeval Whirl and Dinosaur had a posted wait of 20 minutes, but we also walked on.
My husband and I went to Kimonos Friday night after getting the kids settled in front of Disney channel TV. It was a lot of fun; again, there were no children.
On Saturday, my husband and I went to Blue Zoo for dinner. It was a wonderful meal. On Sunday all of us went to Kona Café for lunch. I don’t think we will be going back there. We have eaten there a few times, and we like the atmosphere of the Poly, but this restaurant is just so average.
We had a great trip, and are happy to be home resting!

FYI: Upon check-out on Sept. 17th, we handed our USPS priority mail package ($8.10) to the CM at the Beach Club front desk. We still haven't received it yet (should have been here 2-3 days after being mailed-it's been almost 3 weeks), and I'm losing hope that we will get it back. I've called the BC, and our post office. Next time, I will use something trackable, like UPS or FedEx.

Hey!

Sounds like you guys had a fun time!

I love the lack of crowds in Sept. too, but the heat really got to me. So I think a Christmas time visit next time may be the ticket!

You are so smart to send some stuff ahead of time! I never thought of that!

Thanks-I just found your trip report, I've got some reading to do!

thanks for your trip report. Sounds like you had an awesome time. How long do they think for packages to get there ......sounds like a good idea.

How was the dinner at Blue Zoo

Question ??
We go in less than 3 weeks-what is the mattress and sleepsofa situation?
Had they been replaced?
I'd love to know.
We are getting excited about our stay in the 1 bedroom at BCV :Pinkbounc

We mailed the package Tuesday, and when we checked in Friday night it was waiting for us.

We really enjoy Blue Zoo. It is more adult than the average WDW restaurant, even the signature ones. The service and food were great.

Funny you should ask...the king bed looked weird. It didn't have the platform under the box spring, so it was really low to the ground. Then I sat on it, and it was really mushy. I pulled back the covers at the top of the bed, and the mattress looked very worn. I callled the front desk, and they moved us to a different room. Someone came with new room cards in 5 minutes. Housekeeping came to look at it in the meantime, hopefully they will do something about it.
The sleeepsofa was the old kind, my kids didn't complain; when we were at BWV in July, our room had a new sleeper, that just flips out without removing all the cushions. It was very easy to use, and it was comfortable (I tried it out one night).

DH and I have an ADR for Blue Zoo for our October visit. The menu looks so yummy. And I have not seen a bad review yet. Did you feel the food and service was worth the $$$. If you don't mind, please tell me what you had.

Thanks for the info.

OK, I was asking my husband this yesterday, since my mind is a bit fuzzy (they have really good vodka martinis, ask for the blue cheese olives :thumbsup2 ). I had a crab cake appetizer, and I think the grouper - there are 3 different fish choices, plus a "dancing" fish. The dancing fish comes whole, and I didn't feel like that, so I went with a filet. My husband had tuna tartare and the mahi mahi. For dessert, we shared the fondue. We have eaten there before, and the service has always been good. It was totally worth it to us.
