Well I wanted to end our trip doing nothing but relaxing and enjoying a resort. We did exactly that and we picked the WL to do it! I picked it because I knew the X-mas decorations would be up and just be beautiful. I wanted to try something new and I got a code rate of $166 per night including tax for a courtyard view.

We arrived Fri. at 10am switching from BWV and moving our luggage ourselves. Our room wasn't ready yet so we let bell services take our bags and off we went to the marina. We first took time to take it all in. Now let me just say that this type of decor, woodsy, is not our style at all. We love the decor of the BW and the bright colors. Well, we fell in love!!! There is just something about this place that just takes your breath away! The warm cozy feeling, the amazing details, just beautiful. The resort in our opinion is great. DH and DD rented a boat the first day and by 11am our room was ready. This is where we were disappointed.

The room smelled of smoke, even though it was a non smoking room. There was no fridge and they wanted to charge $10 a day. I thought all WDW resorts now had free fridges, we had one at POR. No biggy though. We asked for a crib and they were alittle rude to DH on the phone saying he had to request one on the ressie. Which we did, months earlier, and we requested it at check in and again when we went to our room. There wasn't a pack n play in the room either. Finally housekeeping comes up and hands us a pack n play. I said no way I need a crib then the housekeeper started getting rude with DH again saying it had to be requested on the ressie. We told her we did that!! Then she said, well you'll be put on the waiting list and we don't know when you'll get it:mad: Took the pack n play back and left! I admit I was mad but this was my birthday weekend and no one was going to ruin it!! We also told housekeeping of the smell and could they send someone to spray it. That never happened. Good thing I had lysol and it helped.
The room was small. We were bumping into each other. Especially when the crib came that night!! The wall paper was peeling off, the furniture was old and scratched, the bathroom door didn't lock, the drain plug was broken and came right out in my hand. The shower head was broken. It actually sounds worse as I type this because we loved the resort so much we overlooked all these things! Our view was of the main pool and it was a great view. We swam, road bikes, rented boats, ate there and just really soaked up the atmosphere. We sat on the rockers by the fire at night. Just great! It wasn't too crowded. We also did the campfire at FW and watched the movie. It was alot of fun. We made smoores and toasted marshmellos!

On Sat. we get back to our room after being at the pool all day and what a surprise!!! On the bed was a pillow with my kids stuffed animals placed like they were playing along with a cute towel animal, a cute little bunny made from a wash cloth. Then there were WL and Happy Birthday balloons attatched to a birthday card from Minnie mouse herself!!! It was writted out to me and had a nice picture of minnie and her signature!! I was so happy and like a little kid!!

So, we would definately stay here again. We loved it but were disappointed with the room. We became DVC members on this trip so we will stay on the villas side next time, bigger room!!!:teeth:

Any questions, ask away. I have the list of prices for boats and bikes at their marina if anyone wants them.

Funny how we overlook some of the little problems at Disney, isn't it? We had similar problems at POR in 2003 just before they started remodeling. (Don't know if there are any remod. plans for WL) Remote was missing battery, light bulb not working and then the door broke and they had to switch us to dif room. When checking out DH mentioned problems and few months later we got coupon for free night's stay. Nice surprise. since, like you, we weren't really bothered by the problems.

Your story is interesting because we had a slightly similar experience at WL. To make a long story short, we checked into our room only to find three major problems. One thing after another kept happening and it really could have ruined our vacation. BUT, after speaking with a manager, we had a new room. Luckily there were no problems in this new room. What a pain to have to move, though! They also sent us a fruit basket the next day.

My point is that although we had a bad experience with our initial room condition, and the hassle of having to relocate at 11:30PM, this resort is absolutely gorgeous. The beauty and comfort of this place made up for the problems we experienced. We fell in love with WL and will now be trying out the villas in January.

We just got back on Saturday from our first stay at WL last week. I loved it and will definately stay again. You are right about over-looking the little things. There were a few things that weren't quite right, but nothing that would impede our overall enjoyment

We were upgraded to a courtyard from a standard view room without even asking and without having to pay more - I actually had no plans to ask anyway - this was a very nice surprise.

When the bell-man brought up our luggage,he spent about 10 minutes going over everything, telling us the fastest route to the pool, the transportation, etc. He also said if we wanted a mini-fridge -t here wasn't one in the room - to just call housekeeping and they would send one up no charge.

We did call for a fridge after he left around 3pm and it took 3 more phone calls to actually get it by 10pm the same day. However, it was a Saturday and we just assumed that they were very busy. No big deal - we got our fridge and were happy to have it.

I found the sink and counter space a bit lacking, and the room a bit smaller than we are used to, but then we were four adult females with a LOT of luggage and toiletries so the space issue could have been psychological. LOL

The snack bar was OK, but then all we ever have is toast and juice for brekkie. But we noticed and heard a number of people complaining about the lack of choice in the fruit and rolls section. It seemed like they were running out of stuff and not re-stocking fast enough to meet demand. We only used it for filling up our mugs and toasting our bread.

I guess my only "beef", and it had nothing to do with the hotel per se, was with the spa. I found it a bit disconcerting that young children were "playing" in the spa when we went to relax there after 9pm at night. By playing, I mean cannon-balls off the edge, tag, bobbing for quarters, splashing each other, etc. And by young children, I mean younger than 7 years old. And all their parents had to say was "don't bother those ladies". Thanks. We ended up in the pool instead - a lot quieter and more relaxing.

I also had my ressie booked in two sections for different rates. There was absolutely no problem doing the check-out/check-in on that date, as I confirmed here. We didn't need to pack up - just exchange our room keys. Very easy.

Valet service was great and a reasonable price.

All in all, a great stay and a great resort. We'll definately be back!

We're headed there 12/3-I can't wait!!!!:)

We stayed at WL from 10/22-10/31. I couldn't have been happier with the way we were treated--in fact I emailed to say how good the service had been. We asked for extra pillows and a fridge, and it took maybe 20 minutes. Also, when we checked in our carpet was in need of cleaning. We called, and it taken care that day. Next, we had a leaky the tub faucet, and again they took care of it the same day. I don't expect a ten year old hotel to be perfect. I do expect requests to be taken care of efficiently. WL could not have been nicer and more accommodating.

Lastly, our housekeeper, Norma, was unbelievable. She was extremely pleasant and treated us like family. I never knew you could do so many things with towels...

Wow! I thought Disney only had pack and plays for infants to sleep in. I had no idea they had actual cribs.

If I had walked into a non smoking room and it smelled like smoke, I would have marched right down to the front desk to get my room changed.

I am sorry you had problems with your room.

I also wanted to say "Welcome Home!"

:)

"Welcome Home"......Oh how I cannot wait to hear those words on 12/17...........Do you fine that the security guard says that to you when you check in? Last year they did not and my hubby was so sad..........I have put that on my ressie to please say Welcome home to him as he drives up.........:sunny:

I didn't hear it once in 10days/9nights. I was bummed. That was my only real complaint.

They said it to us in September at WL when we were passing through the guard gate. For us, it's really an indication that our vacation and resort experience has officially begun. It's a warm fuzzy!
