Spent the week before last at HH. As we anticipated, it was a wonderful stay. We were in 1 bedroom -- 1912. No problems with the unit -- although it did look like it was in need of a good clean. It was easy to spot the layer of dust underneath the furniture. There was also a layer of dust along the perimeter of the unit and the baseboard.

Although we cooked about 1/2 of our meals in the unit, we did enjoy a return visit to Salty Dog. It was a rainy evening and worked out well for us. We arrived shortly before 5 p.m. and although the crowd ahead of us had the first seating, we were able to do a little shopping before dinner. As we expected, dinner was wonderful.

Tried San Miguels and Hudson's. Food at both was great -- service was okay. Rode bikes one evening to Hilton Head Diner -- spur of the moment decision. Food was good and service was really quick.

Weather was the coolest we have experienced in the past 3 years. There was rain one day and a couple of evening. In no way did it "damper" our visit.

We took the nature hike with Brian & Chris to Pickeney Island. Seeing all of the birds around the pond was an awesome experience. The pictures just don't do justice to seeing the number of birds hanging out there. A great experience!

We went on the beach combing tour with Scott from Low Country Touring. Awesome expereince as well. The day we were on Dufuskie Island, there were more sand dollars than we have ever seen. We easily brought home 30 of them. Cannot begin to count how many we tossed back because they were still alive. We have a number of star fish and a couple of shells we haven't seen before. Dolphins were plentiful on the way out as well as the way in. It doesn't stop amazing me how graceful the dolphins are.

DS8 caught a turtle in his crab net off the pier at the resort. Definately the highlight of his trip. It was a good size -- its shell was easily 8-9" long from head to tail.

When we arrived at the resort on Sunday, our room was ready at 11:30. A pleasant surprise.

Time to start planning next years trip. We are already looking forward to it.

I'm glad to hear that your trip was wonderful! It makes me wish we didn't have almost a year before we return.:( The beach combing sounds really cool. I think maybe we'll give that a try next year. The kids always try to look for shells along the beach, but we don't really have much success. I know they would love finding starfish, shells and sand dollars! Glad to know the rain didn't "dampen" your trip any!

Is Chris the person who's replacing Brian as Naturalist? Also, what kind of view did you have from your unit? Any problems with noise from above you?

Yes, Chris is replacing Brian. Although he's much quieter than Brian, he did seem to have things to pass along. Many times Brian would have Chris answer when our DS asked a question.

Not much of a view from our unit -- a cluster of trees. We did enjoy watching all the birds living in there -- cardinals, blue birds, wood peckers. We even saw a snake scurrying away from one of the birds. There was a cardinal teaching her/his baby how to eat the scraps of bread left for them. It was amusing to watch.

There was a family in the grand villa above us. There were at least 7-8 people staying there. I never heard any noise from them although my DH did one night. Next trip we will probably request an upper floor but the thought of the extra flight of stairs with baggage and stuff is definately a disadvantage.
