Our weed smoking neighbors

I would have ask for a rebate for the inconvenience. I agree your neighbors were in the wrong. I know it may have been an inconvenience to move but if you had that would have ended the issue on your part. It really is ridiculous to have to put up with this when you are paying a Disney deluxe price.

I am going to email them. Not for any compensation, I just would like them to review the way they handle these things and come up with a better plan. I know that the first person that I told about the issue didn't do anything because when I went down the next day, there was nothing in the "file" about it.
Right approach. Be factual and give as many details as possible including timeline and names of people you spoke to. They will definitely be back in touch with you one way or the other. Good luck!

Disney's rules are clear:

Smoking is not permitted in Guest rooms or balconies.

Smoking marijuana is not permitted at any time, even in designated smoking areas.

It is against DISBoards posting guidelines to discuss ways to circumvent Disney policy and such discussion can be subject to warning/infraction points.

Thank you.

That's seriously frustrating. I've seen and smelled people smoking out on their balcony (still not great), but to do it in a room is just plain stupid.

It's not being a martyr. The hotel should take care of issues and rule breakers and not have their go to be to just move someone that is the innocent party. That's like blaming the victim.
Absolutely agree, and yet it seems like that’s always their answer, and not just at Disney. Least hassle for them that way! But I’m not moving (especially in the middle of the night) unless you’re doing something for me, period. I do t care if I get called “entitled”—THAT is what customer service is about. It’s not just about doing the thing that’s easiest for the hotel staff, it’s about taking care of the CUSTOMERS.

Weed smokers are the reason I said never again to the Kalahari in Ohio. Our neighbors there were partying and weed smoking and the next day there was a smoldering fire in their room. It wasn‘t a real fire according to the housekeeper but the fire alarm was going off. Their room was full of smoke.

Ugh, inconsiderate and obviously not too bright since they repeated the offense. It’s against the rules, it’s also against the law. You re very well documented OP, write Disney a candid letter and ask for a written response as to How they will handle this situation for future guests so as to not waste their time and energy while vacationing at the happiest place on Earth, like they wasted ( no pun intended) yours..
They should have comped you for the repeated offense and Obvious acknowledgement of Knowing of the issue the First time but doing Nothing to resolve it. POOR management handling. If you have the names, include them.
..Sorry to hear about this debacle and hope the rest of your visit was a good one.

OP, two thumbs up for what you did. To many times people do not say anything and nothing happens to the rule breakers, but they will come here to whine about it. It is really sad how WDW guest services has deteriorated over the years, it should not have taken 3 times to get this resolved. Also; ignore the martyr post, what a dumb post.

Yeah that's ridiculous. Call Disney and explain it took 4 days for them to handle it and I bet they take care of you. The baby got hand-foot one year from a pack n play at Port orleans and I'm pretty sure Disney ended up comping almost our entire stay after calling.

See my previous posts. The go to should not be to remove the wronged person, but to take care of the offender. No need to inconvenience the victim even more. If there is something wrong with the room, like the air not working, then of course, we should move. But having a person next to you smoking weed, is not something that I should have to pack up and move for instead of Disney getting rid of them. It is illegal in Florida to smoke weed.
I agree that Disney should have addressed it immediately and removed these people. Smoking of any kind is not allowed in Disney resort rooms/balconies. It’s a big inconvenience to move, and Disney should offer compensation (or some kind of room upgrade where possible) to anyone who has to move due to their neighbors. I still would have insisted to be moved, though, even if they had removed the pot-smokers from the resort. The smell of weed lingers even after people have stopped smoking, and I do not want my asthmatic child breathing that stuff. Disney should have been deep cleaning that room and yours as well. It sounds to me like Disney handled this situation very poorly. I’m sorry it happened to you.

I got a 'whiff' several times the week we were there. Once just a slight scent wafted over to our balcony, once in World Showcase at night, and a few times passing smoking sections.

One night we were staying at Beach Club I was waiting for my family to meet meet and go on the Skyliner. The smoking section for Epcot is along the fence there. 2 separate guests were smoking marijuana and discussing it. I only caught a few bits mid conversation, basically where are they supposed to smoke their medical marijuana if not here.

It got me thinking about the position WDW is in- a tight spot. Obviously they're discouraging use by resort policy barring it and they have the right to not allow smoking outside smoking areas. They're also probably keen to avoid a stubborn guest making waves. If that person has a legal medical need, WDW might be trying to avoid a discrimination case against them.

I found this recent article that gives a pretty thorough outline of the whole ever changing situation:
