Our un-magical Day

And if you're in the mood to eat farts:

Oh my Lordy. Tears steaming down my face. My husband and oldest son had me email them a link to that discussion. Now my oldest is laughing from the back of the vehicle. That thread is fantastic!

Finally finished reading all posts, so now I feel as though I can respond!
Five Guys fries with Wingstop fry seasoning is the best. I found a Wingstop that would sell me a little container of the stuff... It makes Five Guys fries even better! But then again, to each his/her own.

I started with a comment on fries because I was a little afraid of the DIS boards before the fry discussions. I am quite new here and was a little afraid of the personal attacks I was reading. I kept reading, however, because I was actually learning a little in-between the personal attack. (And I was wondering why there were 20 pages of comments.). Then the fry tangent started and you can't stop a fat guy from reading about fries :-)

The original poster's comment showed me exactly what not to do in Disney World. After reading this thread I must admit that I am happy my wife planned our dining far in advance, and I guess a little more planning is called for. By the way, she has changed those plans many times, and even though we are less then 100 days from our trip (in one of the busiest times of the year,) she is still able to make changes and get something better suited to us. This shows me that finding dining reservations is not that hard as long as you are flexible and keep trying.

In response to the credit card being needed to make reservations, I don't see why that is a problem at all... $60 is going to make me make sure I am on time. I do have a problem with Disney charging for the entire meal immediately for Mickey's Backyard Barbecue that we tried to book for the time before we were staying on Disney property. I did not complain however, I just decided we will not eat there on those days. If I was not going to stay on property at all, my family would not eat there during the entire visit unless we could walk up and get a seat. My kids are used to me doing things like this, and even though they may be disappointed that they missed something, I am trying to teach them that you show businesses that you don't agree with their policies by not giving them your money and being firm about that. PS, my wife knows I am like this, so she canceled our reservation at Be Our Guest and used our dining credits from when we are staying on-site for this. I made my point because we will most likely eat off-site on the days we are not staying there instead of paying out of pocket for the dinners.

I know I am going to open myself up to personal attacks by saying this, but I disagreed with the original poster and made my position on things known and offered an alternative way to approach the situation without attacking the person's parenting style, dedication to her children, or any other personal trait. Please don't think I am being angry/bitter here, many of the comments I read were informative and/or funny. The personal attacks some people were making just didn't sit well with me.

On another tangent, I would much rather have a happy day then a magical day. I am hoping I will be as happy at Disney World as I an at Disneyland. :-)

Wow....what a thread...

On the more important topic....Fries...McDonalds fries are not my thing...I personally prefer "thicker" fries. Dipping in shakes is always the way to go....chocolate is the best, Strawberry and vanilla can do in a pinch. Ranch dressing over Ketchup or BBQ sauce is available...

Aha! Found it. I heard this crazy person posted all over the internet.

Obviously trying to get Disney's attention and (once again) expecting something for free.

You suck.

What are you thinking, shouting Ranch Dressing on a troll post?!?!? Trying to attract Springs1? It'll be like a DIS death match! I would pay money to see that!

So the next time you eat at a restaurant and your food is cooked incorrectly I hope that you realize that it is your fault for not providing the recipe and ensuring that the chef cooked it correctly.

Of course Disney should be held just as accountable as a chef who cooked your food incorrectly. So all of you that are defending Disney are completely off base and are being ignorant.

I traveled over to restaurant A - actually traveled pretty far because I had heard that this particular restaurant was superb! I got there and they were closed- not open on Sundays at all. Seriously, I know the hours are posted on the door and, I found out afterwards, on their website as well but I was really, really hungry!! Not very "superb" of them.

Since I was still very hungry I decided to head over to restaurant B. This seemed to be a very popular spot and I was told there would be an hour+ wait. I was so, so angry and growing increasingly hungry. While I was sitting there waiting for my table a couple came in and were taken promptly to a seat. Seriously? Here I am waiting and these people just waltz right in?!? When I brought it up to the hostess, she explained that those people- like most in this popular restaurant- had a reservation. At this point, I was just fuming. The hostess didn't even offer me a free meal or any kind of discount for my troubles. Then, to top it off, when I sat down and looked over the menu they didn't even have McD Fries. I will never go back.

Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner ... but I don't 'get' ranch dressing at all! Think it's horrible!!! Don't like buttermilk or mustard. I declined several dressings which came with ranch dressing this year. I'd rather go au naturele and add a bit of BBQ or even ketchup!

What goes REALLY well with chips is salad cream - something else you can't buy in the US anymore (unless you want to pay $6 for a tiny imported bottle of Heinz, of course).

What you should never put on chips/fries EVER is sugar!!!! I wasn't paying attention one lunchtime many years ago and mistook the sugar shaker for salt and put a light coating of the stuff on my chips! Greeeoooooo!

I hate over-salted fries/chips, though. I actually went to the woman behind the counter at the BK up near Prime on I-Drive and told her she'd put far too much salt on the fries. I had to wipe each chip off individually before I could eat it.
