After reading all the threads about everyones trips I just wanted to share our story.

Cast of Characters:

Me: 40'something; my 4th trip to WDW
DH: 50'something; his 1st trip to WDW

Reason for trip:

To celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary!

Report:

The trip was almost a "last minute" type-trip. We'd been talking and talking about taking a vacation (we desparately needed one since we hadn't had a real vacation since our honeymoon, due to family members getting sick and so on). We found a place for my dad (he's 84 and can't stay by himself, so we found an assisted living place that would take care of him while we were gone.) We talked about going here and there and then I said "we keep talking about Disney - let's do it!" and dh agreed. So I set off planning! Mind you this is early April and I planned everything for May 14 through 20.

We splurged and got the Disney Dining Plan (loved that!), decided to stay at the Ft. Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds, and would fly down and take the ME. Everything was set and we couldn't wait!

Got my dad to the assisted living place two days before we were to leave, got the pets to the vets (where they were going to be staying while we were gone) the day before we left, and then we packed and packed and packed!

Got to the airport and realized our luggage was WAY TO BIG so we had to pay extra - next time I know NOT to pack so much and get smaller suitcases! We missed our flight - but they got us on the very next flight (only delayed us about 2 hours - we could live with that). Got to MCO and took ME (everyone was just so nice - we were so impressed) to the Resort.

At Fort Wilderness - again, everyone was so nice. We ended up requesting a wheelchair because dh's hips began to hurt - they found one for us and we used it the entire time we were at WDW. They even got a van and took us to our cabin (so we wouldn't have to struggle with our carry-ons and the wheelchair). What a cabin! It was definitely a home away from home!

Since it was still early, we went and got something to eat, then went to MK to see Wishes. Talk about magical!

Even though this was my fourth trip - being with dh, celebrating our anniversary, I felt as if this was the first time at WDW for me too (not just DH). We were both like little kids!!!

We had the park hopper option and ended up going to each park at least twice! Well, only once to AK, and three times to MK! We got autographs and our picture taken with any and all characters we could find!

It only rained once while we were there - we got some ponchos - so it didn't dampen our spirits! We'll definitely bring the ponchos again with us on our next trip - just in case!

Our favorites were: Wishes, Fantasmic, & Spectromagic (we missed the one at Epcot).

One of the funniest things that happened was at AK when we were in line for the safari ride. It was suppose to be an hour wait, well the hour took actually 2 1/2 hours because a wildabeast decided that it was a good place to lay down - right on the tracks! After it finally moved we got to go on the ride. That was cool!

We also got lucky at Epcot! Dh left our video camera in the basket of the electric cart while we were at lunch. The cart was parked in front of the restaurant. Boy were we surprised when we got back to the cart only to discover the video camera was still there! :thumbsup2

We even got to go to MGM and see the Star Wars event. A great thing for SW fan - dh!

It was a great trip overall and we just had such a blast. So much so that we became DVC members! Dh is absolutely hooked!

Now we're planning our next trip to WDW (May '07). We'd love to go sooner, but we've just got too much going on right now. But you never know - you just got to believe! Ain't that right?

Thanks for letting me share!

I was there that same week! I was the one tearing my hair out because my DBIL wouldn't "just stop!" (you know what I mean? LoL)

Glad you had a good time!
