Our trip to the Italian Dolomite Mountains (I)

We took a weekend getaway to the mountains, DS was dying to see some real snow, and I thought I would share some pictures with you.

After driving two hours, this is our first glimpse of some real snow.

DS just couldn't wait to get out and touch the snow, so we pulled over so he could.

I took this while they were playing, I thought the snow looked pretty in the trees.

We were having fun so we decided to stop in the next town and take a cable car to the top. This is the town of Canazei.

This is the the cable car we took to the first stop.

This is the second cable car we took, much larger than the first it held 80 people and took us up to 2,380 meters, which I think is about 7,800 feet.

Yes, the second one holds 80 people, believe it or not. The first one which is smaller, which we thought would be good for 4-6 people holds 12. You can be packed in like a sardine. We were lucky when we went up and down the small one it was just the three of us. When we went up on the larger car there was probably 50 people, but only the three of us on the way down. Most who go up ski, so there is no need to go down the cable car.

Debbi thanks for sharing these beautiful pic's with us. Breathtaking, no matter where you go in northern Italy there are beautiful mountain ranges.

It always amazes me how mild the climate is when you are surrounded by snow capped mountains.
