Day 1...... Friday Aug. 8th, we left Louisiana at 8:00 am. It took us about 11 hours to get to Lakeland, Florida.......... we were suppose to go to Daytona first, but plans changed, and we went to Lakeland to visit my DH's cousin. I was glad to get there, we were loaded down and looked like the beverly hillbillies......... anyone with a 3 year old knows........... I was tired!! We visited DCuz, for the weekend, and had a really nice time.
Day 4......... Monday Aug. 11, we left Lakeland at 9:00 am, and arrived in Orlando at 10:20, or so, we went right to the RPR........ WOW, I was so excited, it really is a beautiful resort! So, we drove up and the bellhop came over to the car and opened up my door, she said welcome to the Royal Pacific....... and then she asked where we were from, and if we'd be self parking or using valet....... DH said self-parking, and another guy had pretty much emptied our trunk by now. His name was Daniel, he walked us into the hotel while DH parked the car. He asked us a few ??'s and then pointed out different things about the hotel..... and led me to the Loews member check-in, he put our luggage at the end of the resv. desk and I tipped him $5. There was one person at the desk in front of me, so DH got there before it was our turn to check-in. The boys took the little one outside to see the elephants. Pia checked us in.............. she was TERRIFIC, she granted us ALL of our request, we had the best view ever, we could see everything!!!! Our view of Hulk was awesome, and Dr. Doom was right outside our window!! We were in tower 1 room 1644. Pia asked me to fill out our Loews member 'perks" form........ YES we got the milk and cookies with the ent. rate!!!! and we had a non-smoking, non-pet room. The boys came back in and she gave them each the T-Loews back-packs........ even our 3 year old, who also got a pail and shovel. Check-in took about 10-15 mins.......... not long at all, our room was ready so we went up with the bellhop, he continued to point things out to us, and tell us everything we needed to know. Once we got into the room, he began putting the suitcases on the bed and laying out everything........ I told him I'd unpack!!!We had 5 bags, and I tipped him $10. The boys were psyched about the view, and they were ready to go to the park!!! The room was beautiful, the dark wood furniture was nice and frankly I found the room to be adequate in size......... we brought our twin air mattress and with that, two queen beds, a table with 2 chairs, another BIG chair, a dresser, etc......... we had plenty of room. the bathroom and vanity area were seperate, so that was GOOD!!! We did NOT get the mini bar key, and we put the $7.00 bottle of Evian away!! ;) By this time they were about to leave us and go to the park....... so we all headed down to the water taxi.......... we walked on, no wait at all, and headed over to universal. The water taxi is slow, compared to walking, but is was a nice relaxing ride and you can see the resort and all the plants, it is pretty. DH went to pick up the AP's (his and mine) and me and the boys went to get their 5 day passes. We waited in line for about 20 minutes, and we're all set, DH was not able to use the kiosk to get the AP's so he had to get in line as well.......... but he was finished before us........ so were off, the first thing we did was Jimmy Neutron........... OK, I gotta tell you, I loved this ride.......... it is so cute, and the chicken dance thing is GREAT!!! HOWEVER........... on day 4, me and DS3 rode this ride 15 times in a row (no exaggeration either, it really was 15 times we counted!!!).............. we didn't even have to get off.................. since he insisted on the stationary seats!!! Yep, it is possible to get SICK of Jimmy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was funny though, the guy told us just to stay there, no point in leaving, and coming right back!!! ;) So, total we rode Jimmy about 27 times this trip!!! FOTL is AWESOME, I will NEVER, EVER, NEVER, NEVER, do universal without it, no matter what the hotel cost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People were literally waiting 3 hours for Shrek! We rode in about 15 min. Anyway, after Jimmy we went and rode twister, it was ok, it pretty much got us wet a little, DH and DS's were dissapointed with this, they thought it was "lame". Then we decided to go eat, everyone wanted something different, so we went to the International Food Bazaar........ DH and I got the chinese, the boys got pizza and DS3 got fried rice............ let me just tell you, it was awful.......... do not eat there!!! We were terrified to try anything else at the park........ this was the WORST food I've ever eaten, and the "atmosphere" was horrible, the place was a mess, dirty, and just gross. Some nut ball who worked there, came and actually sat down at our table and started talking to me while I was waiting for DH and the boys to get the food......... DS3 was drinking out of his Spongebob and Patrick REFILLABLE mug........ and this ding dong, was asking for a drink.............. HELLO.......... stalker, go away!!!! Thank God DH and my DSons came over........... I was about to call for help......... then he went to another table with 2 teenage girls.............. I kept watching......... I was freaked out!!! The mother came and they left......... but that was pretty wierd! Anyway, we tried to eat the food, but it was horrible, we had to go get ds3 a hotdog from another place. After we ate we split up with the boys and they went and did the entire rest of the park......... yep, every ride!! They LOVED the room key, FOTL, they said, this is awesome!!!!! DH and Ds3 and I went over and rode on ET....... it was great, DS3 really liked it. Then we went back to Jimmy and rode that again. About this time we met up with the boys and went back to the room. Our milk and cookies were waiting for us and OH MY GOSH........ those cookies were fantastic!!!! They were so good, I wanted to order more and they were HUGE!!! We had also requested turn down service........ which we never got the entire trip, but it was something we could deal with, so it was fine. We were all tired, so DH and the boys went to pick up food and we ate and went to bed. YES, the beds are really comfy!! DAY 2............ to come!!!!

Wonderful trip report ~ Thanx for sharing!!!!!

I'm glad to hear the RPR had a separate Loews line - I hope they do when we go, I hear it is hit or miss. Can't wait to hear the rest!

Oh! Thanks for sharing...can't wait to hear more!!

Sorry to hear about the bad experience...was it the International Film and Food place you were talking about? If so, I had gone there a couple times and the experience wasn't that terrible...I liked my sweet and sour chicken :p But sorry that wasn't how you hoped. :(

I'd like to hear more about your other two sons too...think they may want to write their own trip report? :) I'm working on a website based on teenagers' point of view of shows, rides, etc at the parks and want to know their opinions of things...in fact, if they want to add some input into the things to add to my site, it would be awesome :) Especially since it would be from teenage guys, since I may have different views being a girl and all ;)

Again, thanks for sharing!

PS - Did you do anything in Lakeland? I have TONS of family that live there...in fact I was born and raised there and then moved to Venice when I was 10. We still go there often. :)

I've been waiting for your review! Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad you loved your awesome view! I have a co-worker who just returned from the RPR. He said it was just gorgeous. He didn't bother to go see the other hotels because he was so happy there, and couldn't believe that was the least expensive on-site hotel.

Thanks for the tip about avoiding the Jimmy Neutron-a-rama. Too much of a good thing is sometimes just too much.

We had a really good time. Yes, it was the International food festival place........... YUK!!! As far as the Royal Pacific....... it was fantastic, so beautiful, we really were pampered!!! I'll be adding more of my report tom. we are trying to get things ready for school......... I will ask them about writing what they thought of the trip....... but you know guys....... they really don't care to talk about it!! I'll try though! They did have a good time, and they liked citywalk, they went almost every night! ( Looking for girls!!) LOL

As far as the Loews check-in, I'm pretty sure it is always there.

and as for Jimmy.......... I'm over that for awhile!!!:p

I'll post day 2 later!!!!

LOL!!! Figures  ;)

It would be nice to hear what they thought...tell them a teenage girl was asking. Maybe they'll answer then...lol. Can you see I'd really like to know?? :p

Hey wendypooh! I am happy to see your trip reports and glad you had a good time. I have to agree about the Intl Food and Film Festival. I think I described it in my trip report as "mediocre at best" and that was a compliment. We chose to eat there only because everyone was starving and we just happened to be walking by. That mistake won't happen again for us. We also stayed at RPR with 5 in the room and felt the room was quite comfy. I was a little concerned after reading here that the rooms were small. It was plenty large enough for our 2 adults and 3 children. RPR is gorgeous. I am already planning a return.

Off to read your next report!

Yes, we had plenty of room with the 5 of us. Our bathroom and vanity area were seperate, and that helped out a lot........ we also brought a insulated bag and filled it with ice and brought soda's......... teenage boys go through soda like there's no tomorrow. It worked out very well though. The RPR is gorgeous, and we felt like royalty. The staff was superb and so helpful. Our sons were treated like kings.......... it was really wonderful. We loved it, and will be going back!!
