Our Thanksgiving Fantasy - Nov 22-Dec 1 - COMPLETE!!

GREAT pictures of you and your family!! I would have had a hard time choosing thanksgiving feast over lobster. I love lobster. But on a cruise, I could ask for both! Loving your TR!

Thanks Mary. I like to live, so I chose the turkey.

I'd go with the turkey for Thanksgiving, but my usual holiday meal would be about three times that portion!

I actually appreciated their portion control at the restaurants. It helped with the inevitable weight gain.

Very cute family photos!

Thanks !!

That parking is impressive. I can't even parallel park my car.

Yeah, I know what you mean. My three point turn is like an asterisk. It's bad. And I have the tickets to prove it.

Kind of cool that you got to see the Miami waterfront. I hope that CM ended up making a full recovery.

Lovely pictures at your Thanksgiving dinner. What a wonderful way to spend family time. Cruising over thanksgiving looks like it would be a lot of fun since it is such an important family time.

I hope so, too.

My family likes to engage in something I call "psychological warfare". After 40+ years of dealing with it every single Thanksgiving and Christmas, we decided that we would go away for Thanksgiving every year and do the "warfare" at Christmas only. The last 5-6 Thanksgivings have been the happiest of my life. Christmas .... not so much.

The Segway tour sounds like fun.
The aquaduck looks like fun.
Dinner looked good. I got that ornament to in Epcot.
The Miami pics are nice.
Great updates and pics.

Lovely pics of the fam! Did "Ace", the ship's photographer, not get a pic of all of you together? Speaking of "Ace", I wonder how often cruise ship crew memebers have passengers call them by the name of Love Boat characters? You just know people are calling bartenders Isacc left and right. Well maybe not left and right, I guess Love Boat is a bit old.

Okay enough of that tangent. The Thanksgiving dinner looks nice. I like that you all had a choice of entrees and weren't "stuck" with just the traditional Thanksgiving fare. I'm like you, I would have been all about some turkey and dressing, but people like my DD aren't turkey eaters (in her case she'll eat it if its fried), so other options are great.

I really missed going to WDW this year for Thanksgiving. My DD is too much of a homebody. She didn't care for being away from family last year on Thanksgiving. It was kinda sad for me too, but Thanksgiving at the World is so much fun!

I have sailed out of Miami twice on another line and it does have a beautiful skyline. I actially liked the view sailing away from there the best of all the cruises i have been on.

Dinner looks yummy. Was the turkey good? We went away once when I was a kid over Thanksgiving and had the worst meal ever at a hotel. It was so gross none of us ate it and my parents complained. It was a fancy hotel and I guess they tried to fancy up the turkey and no one there liked it. LOL.

Dinner for Thanksgiving looked good and I spied a Brussels Sprout. No holiday dinner is complete without them. Nice that you had a family holiday dinner. I get the holiday drama thing. My one brother always caused it for us. He has disowned the whole family as we were mean and horrible to him. I would love to shake some sense into him as he has broken my mom's heart, but meals are very peaceful now.

I finally took my granddaughter to see Frozen. It is raining and dreary so I treated her while I can. She was mesmerized. I will say it was a very good movie. Now I will have to take her brother and sister to see one. Maybe Frozen again?

I wanted to go but DD wasn't old enough.

It really is/

They gave them out free on the cruise.

LOL. I can't say that any of that occurred to me and I didn't hear anyone throwing those names around.

I did enjoy the traditional Thanksgiving meal. I am glad they served it.

It is fun and it is so nice to see everything decorated for Christmas.

It did have a very pretty skyline

It was really good. Nice and juicy. Not dry at all.

Yes, there were a few brussel sprouts in there. Isn't it sad how there is always that ONE person? Unfortunately for us, the one person seemed to rotate in our family. Each year it is someone or something new. To tell the truth I dread Christmas morning and I am always so relieved when it is over.

I finally took my granddaughter to see Frozen. It is raining and dreary so I treated her while I can. She was mesmerized. I will say it was a very good movie. Now I will have to take her brother and sister to see one. Maybe Frozen again?

Absolutely !!!

Everyone looked so nice for your Thanksgiving dinner! I chuckled when I saw your turkey dinner plate since it is so the opposite of what my Thanksgiving dinner plate looked like piled 4 inches deep with food! :lmao: The pumpkin layered cheesecake sounds great.

Sorry your ankle/foot bothered you the night before so that you missed the fireworks. I'm sure a better outcome was to tend to your foot before it was really bad.

Wow! Frozen that many times within one week! I'm impressed. :)

I appreciated the portion control because normally mine would have contained 3 times that much for sure. The pumpkin cheesecake was VERY good.

It is still bothering me. I go back tot he doctor on Friday and then we will decide whether to do what he calls a "revision" surgery.

DD saw it FOUR times on the boat. And she went with my daughter in law to see it when we got home. She is obsessed !!!

Sleep in... on a cruise ship... on Thanksgiving. Yep, I could deal with that. :thumbsup2

Did they have any kind of special viewings of the Macy's parade or the football games on board that day?

That was kind of cool that you got to make a bonus diversion and see the Miami skyline from the water at night. It is too bad it was under those circumstances though. I hope everything turned out ok.

Not sure of the parade, but I want to say the games were on the TV on the pool deck. I know the Sunday Night game was.

EDIT: Yup. They did air all three games on the Funnel Vision. Just checked the Navigators. I figured as I know they did for the Super Bowl when we went in February of 2007. That they did a HUGE thing for. It is all starting to come back, now. I think this is the day they brought out the Mickey soft pretzels, and more "tailgating" and "football game" food at the quick serve stations.

We were dealing with it just fine

Did they have any kind of special viewings of the Macy's parade or the football games on board that day?

If there was a game on ESPN then they showed it. If it was a big network like NBC, ABC, etc. then they just had a message saying due to international agreements they couldn't play that station or some such

I hope so, too. It did make for some rough going there for a while since we were going faster in open water to get to Miami as quick as possible.

Ah yes, I remember now. The pretzels were OK. The plain ones didn't seem very fresh, but the cream cheese ones were pretty good. And I think they had wings, too.

Day 8 – Part 1

Navigators for this day – our last full day on the boat.

On this morning we slept in again. Until maybe about 9:30 AM or so. We knew weren’t going to be docking at Castaway Cay until around then, so we just got some rest. DH and I made our usual trek to Cove Café for coffee and Cabanas for breakfast. After that, we headed back to the room to get DD up and ready to go ashore.

View of Castaway Cay from our balcony.

They had a Christmas tree set up on the jetty that everyone was trying to get photos in front of.

DH, DD and I got off the boat. DS decided to sleep a little longer. We told him to call us on the wave phone if he wanted to get off of the boat.

It was windy. I think this may be why DH was wearing his jacket. I don't remember it being cold that day at all.

DD wanted to go to Pelican’s Plunge which is where the water slides were so we headed towards the tram stop to catch a ride to that part of the island.

Tram

Do you like how I took up 40+ photos just to get to the tram stop?? We hopped on the tram and head out to the middle of the island.

I thought you would like those. Let me know if you want me to e-mail you all of them.

Susan

I would love to have the navs emailed to me. I have been catching up on your thread for the last week. We are taking a western caribbean cruise in November so I have been looking at everything very closely. Right now I'm considering the Dolphin Extreme/Turtle farm on Grand Cayman and Paradise Beach on Cozumel. Our third stop is Falmouth and I'm not sure if we'll just stay on ship that day as that will be the third straight port day. May be ready to just relax. So excited! its our first cruise and I love having information.

Thanks for this thread. I'm LOVING it!
