THE REST OF DAY 6
.or
.PP AND MOM QUALITY TIME
.AND VERY LOST
We got back to the room and PP decides the crunchy, chlorine infested rats nest hair is now not so stylish. With no cajoling from Mom, PP jumps in the shower. See, all you have to do is wait until they actually develop a rash and hay-like hair
and your children too will shower on their own. I should teach a class or something. Hygiene and Nutrition 101.
While PP was showering, Bubba is complaining he is tired. Bubba is always tired. Why is today any different? He doesnt know if he is up to MK tonight. What???!!!! NO MK??? Blasphemy I tell ya. All kidding aside, Bubba didnt look too good, and sometimes he needs a good nap and some alone time. I am accepting of this about him
.just as he is accepting of all my quirks
.Which do not include being too tired EVER to do MK! Im just sayin.
We talk for a bit about what we should do
.I am not tired at all(Hey, Im 12 years younger
.and I swear all the caffeine, alcohol and nicotine can keep me going like the energizer bunny! PP has now gotten out of the shower and hears our discussion. I suggest that her and I take a trip over to MK by ourselves. It was like Christmas morning at the Zoo for PP. Dont get me wrong
.she loves her father
but there is just something special about spending alone time at MK with Mom
.at least I hope that is what she was thinking
.and not Hmm
.Dad is cheap
if he gives mom lots of money, shell buy me whatever I want
We finally make the decision that PP and I will go over to MK to use our FPs for SM and SM
.confused? This is how I know Bubba was not feeling great. Did he realize he was going to allow Me to take his daughter in a car in a strange land and hope I make it to MK? He is either very tired or he has lost his mind.
I assure him Ill be fine, while he attempts to explain to me how to get to the MK. For those of you familiar with 192, we were directly in front of Sherberth Rd. All I had to do was go out the Wallgreens parking lot, make a left, make another left and then a right onto the main Disney Rd.(forgive me for forgetting the name)
.and we all know, once you are on property how easy it is to follow the signs. Well, it just was not sinking in how to get out of the hotel and onto the main Disney Rd. After exactly 37 minutes of detailed instruction, I think I had it. You would think this is where Bubba would have just said
.Forget it
.Ill come with you This is, once again, how I knew he was exhausted!
Off we go with PP squealing in the back seat with delight. Im going out with Mom tonight It warmed my heart and it was actually starting to seem like a good idea.
I somehow managed to get myself into the MK without much ado
.Thats good
.that means I should be able to get home just as easily.
We are driving into the parking lot, when I realize
.This place is packed. We actually had to park in Dopey. I didnt even know there was a Dopey
.let alone, think I would have to park there. I am an intelligent person
.however, I knew I would not remember where we parked. So like any self-respecting mother would do
.I made PP memorize and repeat what section and row we were in. To this day if you ask her where we parked she will say Dopey 107 I drilled her on the tram
.and often through our evening
Where did we park PP? To which she would quickly answer Dopey 107
I dont know why I found this so humorous
It had something to do with how she said it
We hop on the tram and take the 2 hour drive to the TTC
.Really, has anyone ever parked in Dopey? Its far!!!!
We decide we are Ferry Boat people. Weve done the Monorail
.and both PP and I prefer the boat. Let me take a second to remind all of you that thus far in our trip Bubba has been the back-pack carrying fool. The disadvantage to coming alone is that I now have to carry the bag. So of course I didnt pack any water
just our passes(which is a huge responsibility, so I put them in the TL plastic holder) money, the camera, and of course those things I need, due to my horrible addiction.
So here we are with no water and waiting for a Ferry Boat
oh and LOTS of money to do with whatever we choose. We decide we need a bottle of soda from the machine. Our first $3 spent. PP knows this is going to be a good night.
We enjoy our ride over and PP wants to know all of my favorite things at MK when I was little. I tell her SM and HM
.She is in agreement with SM, but not so much HM. She liked it
but she was really afraid something was going to jump out of her.
We jump off our boat
and head to the turnstiles. Oh No, I actually have to go through the bag check? See, I am intelligent
but Bubba handles all the real life stuff. Sad, I know. I manage to go through the bag check without incident and now I have the daunting task of getting the passes out, and putting them back without losing them.
Oh wait
first we have to stop in the shop before we even get into MK. Bubba hates shopping
.and PP doesnt necessarily have to buy something at every store, but she certainly has to look. I indulge her, because this is her night with Mom. We look around, slowly, without Bubba waiting outside impatiently
and revel in just being able to browse without anxiety.
We enter MK and Mom manages to put the passes away safe and sound for our remaining days. We mosey on down Main St. just chatting
when PP mentions she is a little hungry. We stop for popcorn, but she changes her mind. I know we have ADRs for Kona at 7:40, but now I dont know if I want to go. I mention this to PP, (it is only 5) and she says shell get something small in case we decide to go. I then remember Caseys and she thinks this is a great idea. We stop in Caseys and get a hot dog. Why has no one ever told me how huge these are?
We find a table outside and she gets started on the worlds largest dog. Im not a huge fan of hot dogs, so I take one bite, just to say Ive tried it and she finishes up. The tables outside of Caseys were empty, so we just sat and relaxed and people watched. I had to explain the culture and religion of Hassidic Jewish to her
which Im not sure I did correctly
so now along with mis-information about the origin of IASM dolls, she also possesses some sketchy knowledge of the Hassidic Jewish.
We finish up our intellectual discussion and meander over to SM, in hopes that it was re-opened this evening. As we approached we realize how packed Frontier Land is. I think all those people who wanted to ride SM earlier when it was closed, have come back
.just like us.
We hop in the FP entry line and realize, while we will not have to wait an hour
we still have at least 15 minutes of waiting in front of us. We make friends with a very nice woman from Colorado who is in line alone. I offer her Bubbas FP to ride again, but she informs me she is doing the child-swap thing with her husband
but thank you anyway. Oh well
I tried to do my good deed of the day
that counts right?
We somehow got on the topic of Sea World and she mentions she was there yesterday. Wow, so were we. She is military and got in for free and was very unimpressed
.Imagine how I feel, we paid full price! We talk about what we liked and disliked there
I think SW was having an off day that Monday we went
because, everything I complained about, she complained about. How some of the guests were so rude, the price, etc
.We did agree it was very clean and eye-pleasing.
She informed PP that the first row of SM gets the wettest, so of course that is where she wanted to sit. We reach the gates where they put you in a row and the nice woman got put in row 1. She says shed rather not
so now the fools known as PP and Mom get to ride in row 1. Lucky us
.Thanks nice woman from Colorado. She is behind us, chatting with PP
.and although she put us in front of her to absorb all of the splash, she still was a very nice lady!!!!
We take our journey through Brer Rabbits abode and keep our fingers crossed that the fox does not get him. On the approach up, we stop in front of where the other boats are plummeting down and our entire boat misses the splash
except row 1! My right side is soaked and PP is mad she didnt sit there. We approach the big hill and I actually have a fleeting moment of anxiety
.Why was this closed earlier? I simply tell myself, what Ive been telling PP. Disney would never let anything happen to you. Deep breath and down we go. The waves comes up and over us and lands partly on us
all Im thinking is: Im glad I didnt wear white.
It comes time to exit the boat
and the nice CM keeps saying Please exit as quickly and safely as you can
.Has he ever tried to exit SM quickly? Its not easy
especially when everything including your feet are soaked
but I somehow managed to get out
oh wait
I have that stupid back pack
.Bubba where did you put that thing on rides and manage not to forget it? You are good!!! The bottom is soaked, but I had put the camera in the front pouch, so we were good!
PP and I squish squash our way into the gift shop to look at our pictures. Looking back, I really wish I had bought that picture. Being we were in the front row, you had a great view of us
.and our expressions were priceless. I really should have bought it. Next time! PP wants a few pressed pennies to celebrate her adventure on SM and we patiently wait for other children to finish up pressing theirs....The children are done and we approach the machine
when out of nowhere comes Mr. Pushy mans wife. Mrs. Pusherson. PP is taken aback and gives me that odd PP look. It is ok, some people are just rude
well wait I replied. PP says Yeah, rude and pushy The woman is un phased by our little exchange and proceeds to make 6 pressed pennies
That is correct
.two of each type! I wish I had some pixie dust to sprinkle on that woman
.or a baseball bat.
Pressed pennies complete, we wander over to BTMRR. Like I said FL is packed, so we are not surprised by the 45 min. wait. No thank you
we walk around a bit, but there are too many people in here for us. PP wants an ice pop
so itsakadoozie it is. We find a bench in a smoking area and discuss what we want to do next. She wants to head to TL to do SM, I suggest we walk through Fantasy Land on the way over to see if there is anything she wanted to ride that we had missed.
We finish our respective itsakadoozie and cigarette(you can smoke 3 cigarettes in the time it takes an 8 year old to finish an itsakadoozie
.just a little WDW trivia for ya) We walk through Fantasy land, and while it is not packed, there are still waits for almost everything. I ask PP numerous times if she wants to do Snow White or Pooh, (those waits were a doable 20 minutes) but the kid has a one track mind
and that is SM again.
We approach SM and the standby wait is 105 minutes
.Who actually waits that long???????? They are probably the guests that think you have to pay extra for FPs. Well that night
.there were many of them. We get in the FP return line and realize the park is crowded tonight, so we will still have to wait 15 minutes. Those were the longest 15 minutes of my life
because behind us was a woman who lost a bet and had to ride
.she was just shy of having a nervous breakdown and talking in that Im freaking out Minnie Mouse voice She was also walking backwards, which made for good times for my heels.
Really, she seemed very nice, and I do hope she survived her trip into space, but next time
Please walk forwards in the DARK queue in SM!!!!
While in line, I check the time and realize it is exactly 7:40. No dinner for us.
We took our journey into space and arrived back safe and sound. PP hopped right out of that car
and I insisted they had lowered them even further. This time I had a back pack to wrestle with. I couldnt seem to get my feet untangled from the back pack in order to stand up properly. I wound up kind of rolling out of the car onto my knees with the pack still attached to my feet. PP got a good laugh out of this and kept repeating Please exit quickly and safely Because the two Mountains have the same cruel CMs
saying the same exact thing. Thanks CMs
and PP!!!
We looked around in the gift shop a bit and PP spotted a miniature version of SM. Miniature is relative and while it was her favorite ride, I had to explain numerous times that it would not fit in the luggage or in the overhead compartment on the plane. She tried to think of every solution possible to get this thing home, including shipping it
I have to give her an A+++ for creativity
but we were still not buying it. I do think I will look for it on ebay and give it to her for Christmas
Shes usually not so persistent about material things when we say no
so I think it would be a nice surprise.
We are still talking about how to get SM home with us, but walking further and further from TL. The park is packed tonight, so we decide to do some shopping. We head towards Main St. and notice huge crowds lining up. It is about 8pm and the parade is not for another hour. Do people really start lining up one hour before? Apparently they do
but being the non-parade folks we are, we just laugh and make our way into Main St. Emporium.
We loved the sheer enormity of this place and looked around for a while. PP decided on a Little Mermaid figurine set and I bought my bother and sis shot glasses.
Which, on the receipt says toothpick holder. Is Disney that conservative that they will not sell something that says shot glass? And label it a toothpick holder??? I know my shot glasses
.and these were definitely shot glasses. Although, I suppose if you needed a place to store your toothpicks(ever hear of the box they come in?) this little glass would suffice.
We realize we had better get out of this place
Main St. is getting packed and I dont want to get stuck in a parade. We exit MK for what will be the last time and we both wave bye bye to my Castle. We jump on the monorail, because it is closer and we are getting tired. We thought we were going to take off immediately, but someone had the bright idea that another family of 6 with a stroller could fit in our car. PP and I were already standing and the seats were all taken and these people with three kids and a stroller come right on in. To say the least we were squished. This is why we must always have a car, whether we stay off site or on! I could never do that everyday on a bus. I like my personal space.
We get on a tram and PP keeps repeating Dopey 107 The people around us must have thought I was traveling with a female Rain Man. We travel to all the more popular characters before making the 2 mile trek to Dopey. We find our car with ease
being its RUST colored and apparently PP even remembered we were 8 cars down. See
.she is like a little female Rain Man. Now, if only PP could tell me how to get home.
I follow the arrows to the exit and know I have to follow the signs for AKL. Right before AKL I make a left. This much I know. Wait a second???? Why are there signs for 192/4??? How did this happen? I am now not on Disney property and freakin out. I missed a turn in all the Mom and PP night hoopla and now Im officially lost.
Ok, all I have to do is get on 192 West. I see a sign for 192 East and dont get off
.as I pass the exit, I realize it said 192 East
.AND West. OOPs. I see Fireworks off to my Right and decide I should go that way. I make a Right on a dark side road
and low and behold I wind up at 192. It says 192 west, left
but I dont know how that is possible
it should be to the right
I just know it
So I turn right
When I realize I am going East
.What I didnt know, was that I had gotten myself on the other side of 192
and actually did have to make a Left!!!!
It was all very confusing
PP was in the back laughing her butt off
because it is fun for her when mom does stupid thing
and she keeps saying how she cant wait to tell Dad
But after a while she starts to get worried. Will we ever get home Mom? Yes PP, just as soon as I run this red light, do an illegal u-turn and cut off 4 cars
Well be home any minute. And we were
Exactly 32 minutes later we arrive back at the hotel(the drive from MK should take no longer than 8 minutes)
and once again they have moved building 12.
I finally find it
and we stumble into the hotel room in hysterics. Partly because it is funny, now that we are home, partly because we are exhausted, and partly because we are hungry. Oh crap. We never ate(a hot dog never constitutes eating in my book)
.and all of a sudden we are starving. We wanted pizza, so I went through the process of ordering for delivery, but it was going to be an hour
.I called back for pick up
.it was only going to be 45 minutes for pick up. Forget Pizza
we are too hungry to wait. Bubba suggests Wendys and although I was all Wendys out
.I agree, because it will be fast and Bubba is going to get it. I am starting to feel like we came to Florida to eat Wendys.
In the grand scheme of things, the food we eat is important, but quality time with PP trumps a fancy dinner any day. Ill eat Wendys every night if I get to have that much fun with PP! In turn, we both tremendously enjoyed our night alone. All major disasters were averted and Bubba learned never again to let us out alone!!! We get lost and forget to eat!
We talk about how we were gone all that time and only rode two rides
but they were PPs two FAVORITE things, so it doesnt matter. We also rode the Ferry Boat, I remind her
and made some wonderful memories! Theres definitely some box o wine with my delicious dinner
followed by some much needed sleep!
Thank you Bubba for being tired that night! You were missed, but it was precious time alone with PP that we will both always remember!
Up next: MGM
.and Will We Ever Time it Right to See ANY Show????
