I wanted to post about this because this was the ADR I was most stressed about before our trip. I am not a huge buffet fan in general, and after reading reviews here, I was really worried it was going to be dirty, cold and gross. However, DD LOVES all things Playhouse Disney. The highlight of our last trip for her was meeting Little Einsteins and Handy Manny, so we decided to make the ADR anyway.

We had an 8:05 ADR on Tuesday. We got there and all four of the characters (Handy Manny, June, Leo and now Special Agent Oso) were waiting in the lobby, waving and dancing. Special Agent Oso played peek-a-boo with DD through the blinds of the windows while we waited to be called in. We were seated pretty quickly and almost immediately, Oso arrived at our table. DD adored him. He is really cute. He has his palm pilot and watch on, which she was fascinated by. We had a very nice server who was great with DD.

As for the food, we thought it was mostly very good. There were a couple dishes I tried that I didn't care for, but there was a huge variety and it was hot and yummy. It was standard breakfast fare, but we enjoyed it. We also had breakfasts at Akershus and Cape May, and this was actually the one where DD ate the best. I was pleasantly surprised by the foods. We left stuffed.

But the real highlight was the time with the characters. DD was just in heaven. She got to dance with Handy Manny and Leo and she was so, so excited. They play Playhouse Disney music, so she was rocking out even when we were at the table. The meal ended up being a highlight of the trip for all of us because it was just such a fun experience.

If you're not interested in the characters, I don't know that I would make it a huge priority, but for people like us with toddlers who love these characters, I would not hesitate to book a breakfast. It was a really great time.

glad to hear this. We have a bfast adr in Nov. My daughter is 9, I know way past her toddler stage but she loves, loves, Handy Manny so she really wanted to do it. It was her 1 character meal request. I figured as long as she has a good time and the food is edible Im ok, so thanx for the review!!

i felt the same way!

we had lunch there in september before oso (sad)
and it was empty!! so much time with the characters, did not feel crowded or rushed at all

Def a must do for playhouse disney fans!!

Thank you for posting this and confirming that Oso is there now. We have a resie for December but we weren't sure if we'd keep it or not. Now that I know Oso is there for sure, it has become more of a priority!

There have been many people waiting for the first official Oso sighting so you've made lots happy with this post! If my littlest guy was still into Oso and Little Einsteins like he was a year ago, we would return for sure.

I completely agree with your assessment of the H&V breakfast. It's the best meal there, by a long shot, and the character interaction is unparalleled.

Oh yes, Oso is definitely there! Here he is with my (very excited) DD:

This is funny cause I always feel bad about posting 'against' the general Diser opinion.

But, I have been to Disney a LOT (like 40 times) and eaten at a LOT of places.
The places that I love are the ones the Disboards hate.
The ones I think are horrible, are the stars here....so, I say, good for you for going against the norm and trying it out. So glad it worked out for you!

For the record,
I don't like Kona with the exception of the bread, wings, and porkchop...Sushi bar there is great though.

I tried the bread pudding from Ohana and it was horrid! All separated out so instead of custard, it was scrambled egg lumps with bread lumps.

Grand Floridian Cafe (used to be a favorite 20 years ago) is also terrible for dinner. DIRTY! Food on the floor the waitstaff kept stepping on, hair in my fondue and no offer to replace it, dirty sleeves on the waitstaff...just icky.

Except for the view, I think Cali Grill food is not so great either.

Yak and Yeti (TS) entrees tasted like they were out of the freezer section of the grocery store and reheated.

Love, Kona Sushi Bar, Captain's Grille, Starring Rolls, Jiko, Pecos Bills, Wolfgang Puck Express, Boulangerie Patissiere, Tangeriene Cafe, Earl of Sandwich, Trail's End (new ala carte lunch menu is GREAT).

These are my Disney confessions!...lol

Yay for Oso!!! Just for him and Manny this is on our list of places to eat next year. DS adores them!

Thank you so much for sharing. The picture of your daughter is so cute. glad you liked it b/c its my son favorite character meal (next to Tusker House and CP)...This place was his first character breakfast when he just turned 2 and its a must on ever trip b/c of the song/dance and he loved Little Einstein. Now, he loves watching agent Oso so he would be thrilled when I show him the picture of your daughter and Agent Oso tomorrow.

I don't think it is the breakfast that most people complain about.

I agree with you as far as what other say, I dislike Ohana's, dislike Biergarden all get great reviews just do not care for the food.

As far as Hollywood and Vine goes, on my last trip, we ate there. The youngest person was my 13yo brother and sister. We didn't go for the characters, we went to have breakfast and get in DHS before the park opened. I did enjoy the characters though. And took my picture with all of them. LOL.

I am not a fan, He annoys me but He is pretty cute though!

I just wanted to say that my next vacation is in 104 days also. I thought that was pretty cool when I saw that.

We enjoyed this breakfast and plan on doing it again next May. Glad they changed out the JoJo characters though. :thumbsup2

My dd is 2. This was our first time eating at Hollywood & Vine. We loved it!!!!! My dh, dd, ds's 10 & 6, & my mom had breakfast there. We have previously eaten at Crystal Palace & Chef Mickey's. We all felt that the food & character interaction at Hollywood & Vine was far superior to the other character breakfasts. Food was amazing. The character spent lots of time at our table. This was my family's one request for next time.

Have a breakfast ADR for 3 (me, DD and DGS) on 12/15. DGS loves the characters and I was wondering if this would be a good meal for the adults - looking forward to it even more now - thanks for the reviews!

I had lunch at H&V on our last family trip and my DD(almost 3 at the time) loved it! My DS(9 months at the time) also really enjoyed it! Seeing the sheer joy on their faces was absolutely the highlight of the trip. The food was good...I didn't really expect too much from a buffet, so I was pleasantly surprised. We are going again in 2 weeks when we return and we can't wait to see Oso and have a dance party!

I'm so glad you liked it! We'll be eating there for our third time at the end of the month! I really think it's our fav character meal as far as interaction goes. It's never been packed and my girl's have gotten a lot of one on one time with the characters. And they always have a blast dancing with them!

We ate there last year for lunch. The food was ok, I wasn't impressed by much of the food at WDW. The character interaction was outstanding. The kids got to get up and dance, had a blast. It was nice that it wasn't crowded.

We have an ADR for January. DD6 loves SAO and she is looking forward to this meal above all else :cool1: She'll be too excited to eat so it won't matter about the food ;)
