I was so looking forward to it and dont hate me- we wont be returning. :(

I got out of work early on the 1st and I called to add on a additional night and stay 4 nights. It should of been my first sign- the first cm said there wasnt a fla resident rate. I called back like 5 minutes later- and why there was quite a few. so we hopped in the van and headed up. My friend who works at another resort added on another night and we were going to have adjoining rooms. so I checked in and told we were in adjoining rooms in building 1. it was raining. we got the kids and all the luggage up to the 2nd floor- only for the key to not work. I told dh to call the desk on his cellphone. During this my friend showed up and let us in her room and the door wasnt locked to our room so she let us in so we could unpack. ( kinda scary thinking the maid never locked the door:eek: ) anyhow the cm shows up and gives us the whole long speech on why it isnt working. My friend pipes up and says Im a cm at such and such and that isnt right. so he gets all red and says I'll contact engineering to take a look at it. so my friend says call the front desk and let them know you are disappointed about the start of your trip. so I did and the mgr assured me that someone would come and fix the lock. He was also alittle shocked that the adjoining doors were not locked to begin with. He went on to say he would credit our visa $50. I was happy with that result and by the time we got back from dinner it worked. we ate at the food court and dh wasnt too thrilled with the ribs. The service was super slow and the ice machine were either being fixed or hardly dispensing ice at all the whole trip- so there seemed to be a line over there. There is no place to order food by the pool and if you had to come inside from the pool to order food. our first night- there was some major screaming at 0230 and scared the heck out of me. I almost called the front desk until I heard the person upstairs- peeing and than flush the toilet. It was constant all our time there. The air conditioner would make some weird sounds at night and dh didnt much like the wires hanging out underneath. (being a fireman and all after noticing that the required fire hose was not in the box where it should be on one of the buildings ) The housekeeper didnt come until 3pm the next day- nap time for our son. The next day I had left our ironing board out to use it and she didnt put it back or leave us any soap or shampoo ( my kids like to use it all in one bath) I did complain the next day and asked that we had left the iron in my friends room and had forgotten to get it back could we have another- since they had checked out already. never happened either. there was major stains behind the toilet and mildew on the shower walls. The pool was a big hit but I was grossed out during the day when I saw major mildew there also. I called one day to recreation regarding the pool and if it was reopened since they close it due to lightening in the area and the cm was nasty- saying this is the marina. hello- all I did was push the button thinking the pool was recreation! sorry lady. anyhow- our last day we had late checkout but got up early and said lets go home only to not have our express checkout on our door. after standing in line 15 minutes I finally got it. I was so looking forward to staying there too. the kids did enjoy the pool and play area and we got to hang out there almost the whole day sunday but it just seems such a small resort for the amount of people that were there. I guess you live and learn.

Sorry to hear about your stay. I hope that it was an isolated thing, because we are arriving 7/31 at POFQ. I have requested building 5 or 7 and hope that they are quieter and cleaner than what you have described.

Thanks for letting me know.

I'm sorry to hear your visit to POFQ was not a good one. The resort stay is always the highlight of my trip, so I alays dread that I'm not going to have a good one. Fortunatly it hasn't happened yet!

I know you spoke to the manager about your room key not working, and that you were properly compensated, but I would write a letter vocing your other concerns as well. If for no other reason than just to have your voice heard. I hope your next WDW resort stay is wonderful!

Wow, we just came back from the POFQ as well. We were there from 6/26 and checked out on 7/1 to go to the Poly.
We were in building #3 and we loved it! Our room was clean, the beds were so comfortable, and we loved the pillows! We liked the privacy curtain, it was great in the morning when I was getting ready, I did not wake my daughter up when I turned on the lights.
Housekeeping was great, I got my first ever towel animals. I liked the food court, but my neice and sister did not like the pizza, we did not have any problem with the ice machine. Periodically we could hear the toilet in the next room flush, but it was not annoying and I never heard anyone pee.
Maybe I'm just easy to please, but while there were alot of people at the resort we had no major waits in the food court or a check in. In the evening leaving the parks the buses were full, sometimes standing room only, but the other resorts bus stops were pretty busy too.
The was one problem with one of our rooms when we checked in, my mother and sister were booked in a non-smoking room but they quickly changed them to building #2, and they were near an elevator which was great for my mother.
I would not hesitate to stay at the POFQ again.

(being a fireman and all after noticing that the required fire hose was not in the box where it should be on one of the buildings )

Just an FYI, many fire departments carry their own hoses up to the connection box (or standpipe system). They don't want hoses on those connections. This ensures the hose they are about to use is in working order. Anyway, that may be the case in this instance.

We stayed at the POFQ for one night recently on the AP rate, just to see how the new rooms looked. I also wanted my grandson to have the chance to play on the "dragon slide". We thought the rooms were gorgeous! The beds were so comfy----much more so than the ones at the cabins at FW (though I love that place, too!). The food court has the best beignets---better than New Orleans in my opinion. I thought the CM's at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. I asked for a room close to the pool and they placed us in Bldg. # 2. We just had to walk around the corner to the pool.

I wish we would have had more time there, but we had to move on over to the FW cabins the next day. I would love to stay there again. I haven't found a place on Disney property yet that I would not return to. I just try hard to realize that everyone has an off day once in a while. I was disappointed that we did not get to ride the boat to DTD, as the rain really started up just as we were boarding the boat, and lightning was all around. We had to hurry back to the room!

Im sure some days everyone has off days but 5 days of this- Im not so sure. we go to disney all the time and this is the first time we have ever had a bad experience. btw- the reason fireman bring their own hoses is because they dont trust the ones the resorts have- they are hardly tested and in time of a emergency- they like to use the hoses that they know are in working order. it still makes me nervous though.
anyhow- I am dismayed with our experience but wont hesistate to go to another disney resort. everyone has their favorite resort and their opinions. Im a big fan of staying on property and this wasnt disney at their best imo.

I'm so sorry you had such a run of bad luck during your stay. Sometimes "when it rains, it pours". That seems to be the case in your situation.

We actually had trouble with a neighbor who was playing very loud music at the POFQ. It was so loud that it rattled the wall between our rooms! I called the front desk, and they said to stay in my room and let security handle the issue. He said he could even hear the noise through the phone while he was talking to me! It was taken care of rather quickly, and we had no more problems. I guess we caught them on a very good day, as I had no other incidents.

I do think that Disney (in my opinion) tries a little harder than some other hotels to resolve issues. I think they want to keep people happy for many returns. It just really puts a damper on things when your expectations are not met. I completely understand that.

I hope your next stay at Disney will go better. We also loved the Pop Century, and stayed there for 4 nights. We didn't experience the noise others had complained about, and the place is kept very clean. Maybe it would be a nice place to try, since they really seem to keep on their toes with customer relations there.

Good luck!

We just returned from a week at POFQ and had absolutely NO
problems. In fact, we were to return in August to Contemporary and changed our reservations to POFQ because of the
wonderful stay we had there.

It's unfortunate that you had such problems while staying at POFQ. We were there in May for a week and I must say, we were VERY satisfied and plan on returning again. I thought the hotel was very clean, the staff very friendly and the pool was awesome. We experienced no noise problems, as a matter of fact, my 15 month old slept better there then he does at home!!! All in all it was a pleasant experience and I can't wait to go back again.

We had the same problems with AS Music in May. The ironing board was not put away, mold in the bathroom, ice machine on third floor did not work the entire three days and we also did not have the express checkout on our door on the morning we checked out. My husband called the desk people and told them we were checking out and to bring the express check to our room. They did in about 10 mins. It seems like if something like this happens it will always happen to us so we didn't get too upset about it. Still thoroughly enjoyed DW.

I'm sorry to hear this! :(

Clients of mine just got back from POFQ and loved it! My mom and I also stayed in 2000 and it was wonderful, everything was clean and comfy!

Not that it makes it okay, but you just must have caught them at a time when they were a little under par with housekeeping and maintanence. At least they got the lock thing straightend out, and gave you a credit with little fuss.

Again, sorry your were disapointed! POFQ is my fav moderate!

dont get me wrong- our trip wasnt ruined. the kids loved the dragon slide and playground and I was happy about receiving the credit but disappointed since I anticipated so much more from this resort. :( I have never had to complain about one thing much less several until this trip.

Wow. I think maybe we were there at the same time. We didn't have a problem with housekeeping, our housekeeping woman was wonderful. Our problem was with the management. We had gone to MK for an e-ride night after buying our e-ride tix at the resort. There was a huge storm that night and 2 of the buses broke down so there was a really long line to get back to the resort. The CM at MK told us that we could exchange our wristbands at the resort for a raincheck. When we returned to the resort soaking wet we were told by the resort manager that we had to return once again to MK to get a raincheck and he then told us "to be honest I don't know what you should do" and he walked away and dismissed us as if we were nothing. We were so upset that the next day we spoke with the GM and he was wonderful. He refunded our money from the e-ride tix and gave us a free night of e-ride tix. He also told us if we would turn in our hopper passes at the end of our stay he would refund the money on the remaining days since we had already decided to check out early due to the episode the night before. So all in all we enjoyed the resort during our stay but were not thrilled with the front desk manager, to say the least. We also were not really happy with the selection of channels on the t.v., but that is just because we are couch potatoes. Sorry to hear you had problems also.

that reminds me after your comment about the front desk mgr. the front desk staff were not as informative as I would of liked them to be. I asked about fireworks at dtd and they said there was nothing on the 4th. One attempted to give me directions to the town celebration and tham another guy came up behind him and said- no this is the way you go- after about 5 minutes of drawing and redrawing they gave me directions. we ended up just going to dtd and come to find out they had fireworks at midnight the 3, 4 and 5th also I believe.

Im glad the general mgr refunded your money!

I'm looking into this resort for our next trip. I had some problems at POR--AB last trip with were similar to yours. Broken safe, broken blinds, splattered walls, dirty pillow cases... *ugh* They moved us the next day to POR--Magnolia. It was so much better!

Oh and one posters comment about TV channels made me LOL.:teeth: Something about "couch potatoes at WDW...:p
