Our split stay (ASMo/GF... Pixie Dusted!)

Hi, we're just back from our first split stay... We did it so that my son could stay at the Movies and I could stay at the GF. Well, we were very wise to do the Movies first.

Check-in at the movies was horrific, it took over an hour. When we got our room, it was in Herbie (not our requested Toy Story, but that was okay). However, it was about as far from everything as we could get. The room was what I expected, small, modestly furnished, etc., but one day housekeeping never showed up (well, they showed up when we were resting at 5:00, and tried to come in even when we had a "do not disturb" sign on the door).

We switched to the Grand Floridian for our last 4 nights. Well, after 3 nights at the Movies, what a nice change! We got there at 8:30 am, and our room was available. We were upgraded from Garden View to Sugar Loaf Concierge !!! It was great, but we ate way too much! The room was on the third floor overlooking the marina, and was a little noisy with all the traffic outside, but I could deal with it The service was fabulous (our kids really loved the ride in the golf cart to get to our room).

Anyway, I have a new favorite resort (yes, it is the GF) However, I think the atmosphere at the Poly is better suited for our young boys. So, as long as they're along, we'll probably head back to the Poly, but for just DH and I (if that ever happens) there is no doubt, it will be the GF.

Sorry you had a rough time at ASMo. We love that resort and never had to wait longer than 10 minutes to check in. Mousekeeping was always wonderful too.

DH and I did GF for our honeymoon....15 years ago!!! At the time our room rate was $215 per night and DH was really suffering from sticker shock! I told him we will probably never be able to stay here again...and it looks like that is true. I cannot believe the rates there now!~!

But you are right..it is awesome and it is my FAVORITE...so far! I have been at Poly and OKW so far. We are doing CSR/POFQ in April, so I hope I will not be disappointed with the Moderates after the Deluxes! Hey it's Disney...I'd sleep at the campground in a tent if I had to!

AAahhhh...I LOVE the GF and refuse to stay anywhere else. How awesome that you got an upgrade, especially after the bad experience at ASMo.

Did you tell them about your disappointing ASM stay, is that why you got an upgrade? Just curious if it was a little "service recovery", or if they occasionally just give up grades for fun. Either way, good for you! (wish it could happen for us some day!)
