Our Song Flight CANCELLED, is yours?

I read a report today about how the good parts of Song will be introduced into mainline Delta. Specifically, it stated that the IFE (In Flight Entertainment) aspect will become part of Delta however it will only be used on flights 1700 miles or longer. This is why many of the Song flights from the East Coast to Florida are now getting equipment changes. Delta is restructering and those nice Song 757's will mainly be used on TransCon flights from now on. The report went on to say that Song readily admitted that there would be difficulties in merging back into Delta and they were doing their best to make it as seemless as possible If they took one look at this board, they might think otherwise.

Heading to the Magic August 17-22 and looking forward to my JETBLUE flight....I hope!

I bought my August Song flights last fall, so it was before they had made the announcement about the merge back into Delta. My advice to those of you looking at Jetblue now is to go ahead and book, and then keep an eye on the flights to see if the price goes down. If they do, call immediately and they will issue you a credit (at no charge) for the difference, and you have a year to use those credits as cash toward another Jetblue flight. That's what I plan to do from now on (and what I have done since the announcement of the Delta/Song merge).

Well, JetBlue isn't being so cooperative at the moment either!! My dh and dd are flying JB in May...I got them a nice $158 for both one-way to MCO from Boston, non-stop at the time I needed them to fly, so that dd didn't miss any additional school. Well, JB changed it on them....changed it from leaving Boston at 7:10, arriving in MCO at 10:00 to leaving at 4:55, connecting at JFK and arriving in MCO at 10ish. DH is not happy about having to stop, I'm not happy that dd may have to leave school early that day....and they changed the fare from $79 pp, to $294 pp, to what it is now..$199 pp!!! I wonder what that means, other than I'm glad I booked before everything changed!! My Delta flight down changed by 30 minutes and the rate stayed the same.

That's too bad -- I guess we don't get any guarantees regardless of what we do! I have had good experiences with JetBlue and haven't had anything change but obviously it doesn't mean they can't. The big advantage I have had with JetBlue is that they will give the credit if your flight goes down (and believe it or not, several of mine have) and Delta/Song charge the change fee to do so.

Good luck with the trip . . .

It is pretty sad...I booked our flights last June 05 for this May 06..there were about 8-9 flight changes each way. I finally called last night and got everything confirmed. Of course we no longer have the seats we booked last year. I tried to explain to the agent we like to sit with 3 in front of 2 so if my son kicks the seat infront he is kicking us. Too bad, I was told..getting seat assignments is not required and they do it as a courtesy as noted in the RULES when we buy out tickets. Also told too bad you booked a flight with the TV's and now you have none. Plus the times were changed, over 3hours earlier..now DH and kids have to take anyother 1/2 day off. I no longer see any positives in paying extra to fly Delta out of BDL, will just go out of NYC or take SW cattle call for a cheaper price. Very disappointed we are all at their mercy..

Have to agree that the reasons for flying Delta/Song have gone away. If I have to fly without those little tv's in front of me then I might just as well fly SW. At least with them I know they aren't going to keep changing my flight times, and I know going in that I need to get checked in early to get the seats I want. Even JetBlue is shooting themselves in the foot....after hearing such wonderful things about them, I flew them in Dec and loved them. So, booked my dh and dd on JB in May when they fly down to join me. Now, I booked JB for them because they had a good time of day...dd wouldn't have to miss another day of school. But, they changed the time on us!! If I had wanted to have them leave at 5:00 I would have booked Delta/Song and gotten FF miles!! SW is looking better and better.

Keep your eyes open for all Former Song flights after May 1.
Delta is going to move the Song 757 to long range flights and add back a first class cabin.
What I read is that they will reduce seats( use smaller planes MD-80 & 737) and reduce frequence. So get ready :confused3 for lost seats, cancelled flights and the possiblity of losing non stop service in some places. Should be fun since they cannot take all the aircraft out of service at the same time, should be a hodge poghe of old 757 and new 757 with a first class cabin.

My Song/Delta flights for May 7-12 were changed both coming and going. Smaller planes (757 to MD88), and the seat assignments were dropped. I called, got my new seat assignments and then changed them online to where I actually wanted to sit. The flight down is virtually the same, but the flight back was moved back an hour; I can live with that. I'm going to miss the TV's in the seats. I guess I'll go back to SW next trip. There's no real advantage to Delta's flights and I can't ever remember my flights on SW being juggled around.

We are flying out of Tampa back to Boston in May....our flight got moved back an hour also. Actually worked out quite well for us. But, our seats in row 13 I believe, got moved to row 6. Now, I love being in that front compartment...I actually have tried to get seats there in the past. But, I have avoided those seats lately since Delta is adding that first class section. Wonder how they're handling that. Hopefully, we'll be on an old plane and can keep those seats, but I'm not holding my breath.
