Our Seemingly Silly Semi-Illogical Four Day Whirlwind Trip

I'm all caught up again! :thumbsup2 Your TR is so awesome! You're doing a great job on it! I can't wait to see what happens next... I love the foreboding... dun, dun, DUN!

I felt the same way about our turn down service at the GF in December! I was so excited to get back to the room each night! I'm used to staying at BWV and doing my own turn down! :lmao: LOL! It really is a nice touch, isn't it?!

I can't wait to read more!

CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR:

Finally, I hold my breath and dig the card from my pocket, slide it into the lock, and slowly open the door.

WLturndown1.jpg

Is that a carved rabbit on top of the bedpost? What other animals were watching you sleep?

On one of the beds the TV remote is inserted just under the fold of the sheets, ready for use.

Did they guess correctly for Lowell's side of the bed?

We’d owe a bigger tip for that.

Which would defeat the purpose of the redneck breakfast.

Our Viking friends that we met on Maelstrom, Thor and Vidar, never had it so good.
Okay, I admit it; I have a very active imagination.

You can say that again! :lmao:

I check the drawers to make sure the food I put away is still there. We’ll have breakfast at our own Redneck Concierge in the morning. I know exactly where and how I will set it up. And no 7th floor Club Level people are invited.

Love it!

But sometimes fate has a way of throwing a few obstacles in the way of the best laid plans. Unfortunately, tomorrow evening ends somewhat differently than expected.

And it is not a welcome development.

Hmmmmmm

Usually I am just a lurker when it comes to reading TRs. But yours is so wonderful that I had to come out of lurkdom to tell you how much I am loving it! :goodvibes You remind me of myself with your organizing, planning and superior packing skills. I have a TARDIS suitcase too! But you have my husband's delightful sense of humor. Are you sure you aren't our daughter? ;)

IMHO you should seriously consider writing a young adult book. With your talent you just might be the next J. K. Rowling!

I am now concerned (see concerned face: :worried: ) that you aren't going to make to the Hoop-de-doo. :dance3: <----hoop-de-dooers

I hope that isn't so...looking forward to an update. :)

I'm sure she'd like to sell as many books as JK but I'd put her in the same category as Carl Hiaasen - if you're a Florida lover you'll love his adult books ( he usually finds a way to get Disney in at least once) and he's written hilarious young adult books (Flush and Hoot) with an ecological message.

Wow, Kay, I'm honored that you're sending Thor and Vidar to my house this weekend. I suppose I better make some brownies. Hmmm, I wonder if they like country and western music like those other Norwegians you met.

Great, now I have to go clean the house for my weekend company.

Do you have to call Dial-A-Bus to arrange transportation for them?

Kay - I don't think anyone has answered this but I DO remember those blow up characters at each of the countires at Illuminations!!!!!:goodvibes

What the heck happened to them and when did they disappear? We were there '91,'92,'93 then break till '97 then from '99 through present every year so somewhere in my breaks they took them away! Maybe 2000 when they turned it into 'reflections of earth' or whatever change they made then with the globe? I don't really get the whole illuminations thing myself now that the blow up characters are gone - that was the best part in my opinion!

Newbie to trip reports and loving yours! It's like a book I can't put down - can't wait for the next installment.

:cool1:

Hi, everyone! I got lots of fun comments from many of you, thanks!

So, you didn't find the temp. of the WL pool somewhat undesirable and pee(ish)? :rotfl:

I felt like I was swimming in fresh urine. ;)

In your lodge explorations I guess you never saw my hallway to hell? We weren't in the main building. We had to walk about 490,389,390 miles to our room, it was dark, it was scary. DH said it was the hotel from The Shining. The wallpaper was actually peeling from the walls and the carpet was stained. :rotfl: We didn't not enjoy our stay...but are willing to try it again, this time with a request. ;) And if that doesn't work. LOTS of begging. Of course, we DID have a much better view, and for that I am very thankful!

:wave2: MommyPoppins: EEwwwwwww!!!!! No the pool was not overly warm. It was just right, at least in November. We walked down the north wing, which was the area we were advised to request, so I have an idea where you stayed. The décor is an earth tones theme, so even after the remodel it may be darker than the tropical or beach theme you’re used to. It wasn’t overly dark, IMO. It could be a longish walk to the lobby if you are near the far end of either wing, but at least you’re indoors. I remember walking through AK Lodge on a previous trip and you need a map and a compass there!

:wave2: mlill: Like you, we’re used to timeshares where you have a condo and get a mid- week cleaning at most, so we’re used to making the bed in the morning ourselves. That’s not bad as it takes all of 60 seconds for two people to make a bed, but I draw the line at recreating turndown service in the evening!

:wave2: MomBoyd: Hello and welcome! It is a great compliment when someone comes out of lurking to post. I really appreciate it. Since I have character traits from you and your husband, maybe we are related somewhere along the way! I can’t imagine writing anything for children or young adults since the closest I’ve come to having children is spending some time with Lowell’s. They were 5, 7 and 9 when we got married and are all teenagers now. Fortunately they like me, despite my lack of knowing all the “cool and IN things” that you probably learn from having kids around full time.

:wave2: Suzflee: Yes that is a carved rabbit on the bedpost. I can’t remember how many and what type of other animals were carved on the bed, but it was really a cute, unexpected touch.

I googled Carl Hiaasen since I had never heard of him. Sounds interesting. Thanks for the compliment. You and MomBoyd are cracking me up, debating over what writer’s books my work most resembles. I have never attempted to write anything funny until this trip report. Well, I take that back. Nothing like a longish article or story, but I have written funny skits and jokes for organizations’ Christmas parties (where I was a member) and I used to write funny poems or “roasts” for people I knew having a big anniversary or a birthday celebration. So I guess it’s not unprecedented, but humor is not my normal style.

I am now concerned (see concerned face: :worried: ) that you aren't going to make to the Hoop-de-doo. :dance3: <----hoop-de-dooers

I hope that isn't so...looking forward to an update. :)

:wave2: Maleficent13: I love your “concerned face” and “hoop-de-dooers.” From now on, whenever I see those three spinning smilies I will think of them as Hoop-de-dooers.
Thanks for stopping by again with feedback.

:wave2: SunKat: Thor and Vidar will be arriving by ox cart. They’ll come with their own mixer bowls, so you can mix up a batch of brownies together when they arrive. I bet they not only like Country Western music, but would like you to show them some line dancing steps! Don’t worry about cleaning the house. In fact, if you want them to feel perfectly at home, I would dirty it up a bit. They wear their boots inside all the time and, frankly, they are even messier than Lowell.

:wave2: missesdisney: WELCOME and THANK YOU! I was starting to feel really creepy about the fact that no one remembered the inflatable characters, or whatever they were made of. I don’t remember exactly which characters they were, but they were huge and really impressive. I remember the boxes could move around. We were there in 1997 for our honeymoon, and I am not sure, but that may have been the last time we were at Epcot since we don’t do all the parks each time we go to WDW.

I’m glad you are enjoying the report. I’m getting a big kick out of writing it!

love the vikings, more please. kate

:wave2: kisobel: Hi! I haven’t seen you for awhile. Thanks for taking time to let me know you’re still out there!

Kay - Hiaasen's kids' books are great, Flush is a fun read, and his adult ones are full of adventure with a Florida setting and an ecological twist but unfortunately he likes to be colorful with his language.

If you hurry, you still have time to send Zzub a birthday poem/roast!

I don't get it - who is the author? I read that not too long ago and missed something somewhere in this thread!

Thanks:banana:

Suzflee wrote with comments earlier: "I'm sure she'd like to sell as many books as JK but I'd put her in the same category as Carl Hiaasen - if you're a Florida lover you'll love his adult books ( he usually finds a way to get Disney in at least once) and he's written hilarious young adult books (Flush and Hoot) with an ecological message."

MomBoyd wrote in response that she doesn't like Hiaasen because in addition to his young adult books he wrote the Team Rodent book that is apparently a stab at Disney.

BTW, I would not want to take after any writer who needs to use "colorful language." ;) This is as close as I come to colorful language! :rotfl2:

Wow, I had 3 chapters to read in one night. I must get on the Dis more often. Loved your story on the bus. I can totally relate. I was about 20, and going to a gas station to find a witness for a car accident I had, and when I walk in, the young whippersnapper says,"You're the LADY who had the car accicent".. Don't remember anything else but the horror. I was not a lady. I was still a girl. What is wrong with people. You are too funny.

Also love your viking friends checking into the lodge. Hope to read more often. Thanks for the laughs.

HI, Lady! :lmao: Don't stay away too long. Unlike some people who only write a segment every few weeks, I'm fairly punctual with new episodes. Here's a photo of Thor and Vidar's family. SunKat is hosting Thor and Vidar at her place for the weekend!

SunKat, Thor is on the right in the front row, and Vidar is the one on the left. Have a great time and don't burn the brownies!

Yikes - I'm recommending an author who stabs the Magic??? Please forgive me! I beg your forgiveness.

And I definitely wouldn't ask for colorful language...I was only comparing your sense of humor!

SunKat, I would imagine Thor & Vidar are accostomed to having their food char broiled over a fire...they might like them well-done. ;)

Uhhhhh, on second thought, I have plans this weekend. Yeah. That's it, plans. I'm eating the brownies myself. Nothin' personal there Thor and Vidar, but your photo's scared me. If I see an ox cart in my driveway this weekend I'm pretending I'm not home.

 trip reports where the writers include lil'personal history,
you make it so easy for the rest of us belong.....

there are those existing and those living life...which is self evident.

dats...i'm so jealous... , wish that was "me" on the bus that
had the privilege to have offered a real "babe"...his seat...
will maybe next time...:rolleyes1

hey!!!! where our pic of the d'stick-pony race? :hippie:
ps....did you win?...in your dreams? :cloud9:

Hi Kay! I loved your latest installment and seeing the pics of your turndown service! And thankfully there was some intervention before Thor & Vidar did too much damage to the WL! Maybe if they eat at Whispering Canyon they can make some progress on the pork jerky with their axes! Great job as always and I do appreciate the way you have new installments regularly instead of waiting weeks in between. I just lose interest in those trip reports, as good as they may be.

Waiting for the next one!!!

:rotfl2: I sure hope SunKat plans on cooking ALOT this weekend!! That cutie-pie on the back row in the pink frock looks like he can put away some grub. Sure, they're smiling NOW, but if they're not properly fed and watered, what will they do with those big spears?? :scared1:
