I did it! I went to Home Depot and got a huge stack of Lime Green!! Woo Hoo! then I grabbed other colors and pretended that we were considering the choices. My DD8 thought I was crazy, asking her "wouldn't you love your room Alien Green?" After I got my stacks (tucked into the idea booklets), I bolted and never even looked back! A sense of crazy pride, I guess.

I am in Houston and there were lots left. Have a lime green day!! :thumbsup2

I'm going to feel so fake . . . we don't have Home depot out here!

Maybe I'll just tape a piece of notebook paper to my door with sharpie writing on it that says "There's No Home Depots In South Dakota So Pretend This Is Green!" and watch the stares roll in. :lmao:

if you need some I can mail u some :woohoo:

On my next trip I vow to bring along some lime green post-its and tag every DIS door I see with a smiley face. What better way to brighten someone's day, no invasion of privacy, no awkward conversations just a great big 'Hi there'...of course DH will think I've gone over the edge but he thinks that anyway. As soon as we come home I start planning our next years trip:) Its a never ending very happy cycle.

I wonder if I could laminate those chips and make luggage tags out of them? Do they have enough room on them?

OK - now not to take the fun out of the thread, but I have to tell the story of how Alien Green saved us at Disney World last week ~~

For weeks, you all know that I had become the Alien Green Mickey Master. I've got unopened packs from their stash that is under the samples (hint, hint for those of you thinking they are all out ~ simply open the doors underneath, they don't care!). Anywho, my almost 5 year old son had even gotten into the game and knew which color we were after in the stores.

Our trip comes and we head down. Having a fantastic time and the week is coming to a close. We get up on the Friday of our last day there and my husband had gotten into the fun of dressing in Alien/Lime Green. He gets dressed in a Alien/Lime Green shirt for the day's activities. We are spending the day at MGM and don't have much planned, just getting some autographs. Well, my 2.5 year old daughter, whose done great all week with not having potty accidents, decides that of all days this would be the day for multiple accidents within the hour. Which means there wasn't time in between for her clothes to dry out. So we head into a shop to get her a new outfit. William, my son, says he is going to look at the boy toys, which were right in front of us. Not a minute later, he wonders out into the street on the opposite side of where we walked in! I start to flip out. My husband and I are looking all around for him, I've reported it to the cast members and they start to call guest services. In the meantime, my husband, walks down to guest services to see if he has been taken there. When asked what color shirt his daddy is wearing he replies . . . .

ALIEN GREEN!!!!

So, the morale of this ~~~ get your kids to know the color and wear it every single day when in Disney!

Other than this scare, we had a BLAST. And while my husband thought I was nuts for getting these, he has since stopped questioning my sanity!

Excellent story and a VERY good idea! i might just have to try that one out! Glad your kid was okay was well. :)

Glad to see you back, Pooh&Piglet, too and glad you had a nice time. Ah, the powers of the GREEN! Life-saving, even. :) I'm happy things turned out OK...a lost kid in an amusement park is not even remotely funny (and I have a story of my own about Sea World, so I know!!). Thank heavens for happy endings.

Gonna write a trip report?

I'm so glad everything turned out ok at the park! Even a short scare is TOO much!!

I had to laugh when you mentioned the cabinets under the paint samples...
I took my daughter to paint some pottery today, and lucky for me it just happen to be down the road a bit from my local HD (as local as it gets where I live). After leaving the pottery place we grabbed a couple of frozen hot chocolates and made our way up to the HD (funny how my truck always wants to veer towards the Pier1 accross the shopping center from HD)... We didn't lollygag around, we were there for one thing and went right to it! Now I was here last week and cleaned them out (except for one) so I was really hoping they'd restocked and had a load of them. I was a bit disappointed to find only a dozen :guilty: and said as much grumpily under my breath. As I started up the aisle I discreetly tucked them into my jeans pocket, very nonchalantly glancing at other samples like I was really shopping for paint :rolleyes1 I was doing pretty well I thought, proud I was quick and no one noticed anything, when I realized my partner in ... umm.. in confiscation, my DD9 wasn't at my left hip as I trained her to be. I looked behind me and to my horror she was kneeling on the floor with those cabinet doors wide open! She looked at me (now about 12-15 ft away from her or so) and she says rather loudly... "Mommy.. maybe there's more down here!" :scared1:
The nice HD cm (equivalent) trotted over to see how he could help such an adorable child find whatever it was she was looking for. He asked if he could help and "what'ch ya looking for under there..." I thought quick and said, "Oh we're just looking for clear contact paper," and, "honey come here it's not under there.. " giving him the "oh what a silly child" look  He gave the "aw but she's so cute" smile back and very kindly pointed out the way to the contact paper, an unknowing accomplice now in protecting my newly found LGMHPC!

So this story too ends happily every after...

Moral of the story...
I beat DISUNC to our local HD again ;)

Hahaha! I LOVE how this last was in little tiny print. Poor DISUNC. He is NEVER gonna have a satisfying swipe at this rate. :stir:

Okay I will admit that I have not read all the posts on this thread but I wanted to say two things anyway.

1- I was able to successfully obtain several of the LGMH from home depot without getting caught - by staff or my dd.

2- I frequent DL and while I think the LGMH might be more of a WDW thing I thought I would let you know that DL is selling lime green antennas (sp) for people to wear. They look like a head band with a bit of lime green fuzz with two lime green fuzz balls sticking up. -- So they may be on to the lime green thing - anyway just thought I'd share what I saw!

I will be putting a LGMH on my backpack for our WDW trip in August!

Ok Swipe complete.

DS's didn't even realize I had swiped a stack because they found the color scanner and began to scan themselves, their clothes, shoes etc. Good distraction boys. I didn't even train them to do that. I stashed them in the bagallini. (Lovin it on its debut). Continued on with the paint swatch thing for 20 more minutes (am really painting my entire house interior in next several weeks). No alien green has not been picked yet. We got to the car for the count. I GOT 30. Must not be any DISers in southern Colorado.

Well we are headed back tomorrow for more paint swatches. (hopefully they have restacked the alien green.

Love the story about the Lime green shirt.

I was thinking about dressing the boys in a uni the entire time. Lime green does come to mind. Matches their crocs.

He was in Guest Services ~~ so we decided to bring him home. I think if he wasn't found Disney would be all over then news by now about a lost kid, ya think?

Okay HD was totally packed of course it's a Saturday so I had no problems at all near the Disney paint chips...they probably thought I was restocking them as I had my Lady & the Tramp since 1995 shirt on....no undercover operation for me :cool1: so now I as looking for lime green and I couldn't decide between the light lime color named Alien Green OR the lime shade that is a darker and deeper shade named Sonic Boom...which is the right one? And in your honor UNC DIS I will not use the confused smiley :smokin:

I grabbed almost all of them anyway so whichever is right I will use, whichever isn't my grandson will have a blast doing something with..
Thanks, Ruthie
