I didn't want a big wedding I just wanted to get married in the courthouse--no fuss. BUT NOOOO, his mom & my mom wanted us to have a church wedding. Then my mom was trying to pull a get married at church with a party at their house later with records on the record player. (Did you all hear me?!?! Records on the record player!!! in 1990 where they still making records then?!?!?!). Cheapskate, her mom threw her reception in a hall--well we had ours in the same one afterall. :rotfl2:

This same hall my dh fell down the steps not even 2 hrs after we were married! (SIGH) Thought I was a widow-- wasn't even sure if all the insurance kicked in yet-- would've probably had to hock the gifts. ;) :rotfl2:
That was me, had to have the church wedding, and DH had to have the big reception. We did it at a hall as well but had the full ordeal sit down meal huge cocktail hour, it cuts down costs, and they turn out much better sometimes!

And I believe 1990 was the year of cassette tapes :teeth:

Its Ok to have a 'special' family :rotfl2: It adds to the boring days we have. Never a dull moment with those special ones though :lmao:

i'd ask him what he thinks of that...but he's sleeping. snoring too. :sad2:

he's happy that we can actually go to vegas next year because i'll be 21 and i refuse to go if i can't gamble...i won't be able to go anywhere!!

My DH and I eloped and then went to dinner with some friends - it ws perfect!!! Avoided  families and we were VERY relaxed - and saved a LOT of money!! (I would have been SO sressed with our families together that I wouldnt have enjoyed my OWN wedding.) Our parents dint meet until 13 years later!!! (When our first son turned one!!) It worked out well that way, trust me! :thumbsup2

But, a REAL wedding is great too! :sunny:

My wedding was inexpensive considering what I had, but I had the sticker shock as well. I feel like slapping myself for not doing it down there. We honeymooned there, it would have been nothing to get married there, and I probably wouldn't have had my drunken photographer arrested. :teeth:

I looked there after the fact, because of what happened at my wedding, we want to renew our vows eventually. Even though we are only coming up on our 2 year anni, we feel we were cheated out of 'our day' I know selfish, but can't help that one! So that is what brought on the search...only if I knew then what I know now.

Why not renew your vows there next year? If I liked my dh enough I would do it again, but beings I've been with him this long, not should I could commit myself any deeper! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

Wow, 13 years for the families to meet!?!?!

My fil kept yelling in the middle of the ceremony, he wanted it to be over so he could go party. My bil was yelling at him to be quiet the whole time. Ahhh good times--NOT. Both ils are deceased now.

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: Ok I hold you responsible for the mess I made, while spitting stuff all over my monitor :lmao: :rotfl:

I think we might wait one more year. We've been together 14 years, going on 15 but only married 2 go figure :confused3 There is no significance to the years, because they all mold together anyway. We are planning Vegas for this year's anni, and thought about renewing then, but I think I need to loose some junk in the trunk to fit into my dress again! So I'll give myself a year!

Yeah....no one can believe it...esp since they lived about an hour apart from each other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like I said it was for the best. In fact, my DF had passed away before that meeting (by a few years.....) so the in laws never didmeet him! Ahhhhhhhhh, the joy of families.

We're a little backwards actually. Call the moral police...but we were together for 4 years before we had DS, and then I wanted to wait until I graduated college before I got married, but SURPRISE along came DD just as I graduated 8 months pregnant and finals does NOT work. Not to mention I was the lonely hold out on getting married, didn't want to do it, and came up with every excuse imaginable, until I ran out of them. It takes a long time for me to run out of excuses, didn't think that day would come :teeth:

Well, the tackiest show ever is over (Flavor of love 2) My VERY BIG guilty pleasure..so time to hit the hay!!

Sleep well!!! :sunny:

Oh yea, you've been together as long as me & my dh--we'll be 17 togethet, 16 married--forget that renewing the vows stuff. You're in deep enough! ;)

Been there, and those were my exact thoughts too  But by the time the wedding came, my dress was taken in 4 whole dress sizes. I did good on that weight loss goal, only to gain about half of it back after the wedding :teeth:

It always scares me when I have to get sized for formal wear, I actually dread it.
