All this talk of sending our children off to college has me tasting the bitter sweet tears rolling down my cheeks. 1st year was hard for all four of us (Em missing her BEST friend since they are only 2 years apart they never left each others side) John and I , well you know the whole "that's my baby" BUT the dorm was wired and before we even got home (2 hour drive) Kids were MSN-ing! Talk about love eh? He is in a co-op program so once he graduated from highschool he will not be finished till September 2007 -- I owe, I owe so off to work we go! Last year was hard enuff BUT let me tell you this is even worse. When he went in September, he packed up almost everything he owned. Rummaged thru our camping gear to get pots, pans etc. When we came back that day both of us hardly talked.

I still walk past his door with a heavy heart since I know that he as truly left for good :(

One of mine is still at home. He is 23, and says he will leave when he gets married, which could be in 3-4 years. His girlfriend is a sophmore at VA. Tech in engineering. He can't work now or go to college, since yet another surgery my be in his future if the physical therapy to strengthen his spinal support don't work. They are trying not to operate on his back this early in life.

The other is 21, on his own, shares a townhouse with 2 friends from high school. He has a great job but is out to get rich quick. Yikes!

And then I think, in 6 years Jeff will get his license and Krista... she is 7 now. So old yet so young!

Hi Everybody :wave2: Too exhausted to catch up...just happened to log on and for the first time in days and saw stynkerbelles's post. Nana (my mom...AKA the HDLGMH swipin' grandma) has been in the hpspital since last Friday. So between the hospital, school starting, and work, I haven't had a minute. Notice the time!!! I just want to say I miss everyone and will hopefully be back on soon.

How's our little Dobie?

Thanks. Depending on if everything goes our way we won't be able to adopt him until next Thanksgiving so this is gonna be a long drawn out process.

Yuck!!! Don't worry you have the best support group around. Your fellow limeys!!!!!!!
All you need is a daily dose of pixiedust:
I hate how long it takes. My dh adopted my oldest last year in june but it took us 2 years for the process and he was my own already. It is so sad how the system works. You would think they would push through the adoptions ones for the kids sake. There are way too many kids out there wanting a home. It sucks they have to punish the ones that have one!!!!!

Well, Stanely isn't wearing lime as DD colored him, but he makes a great paper doll. lol Amusingly, though, when we went to get the little notebooks for his journals, they came in a five pack - five different colors and she had to decide which one would go where. One of them is lime green and she was adamant that Stanley take that one to WDW with PD and her girls! :thumbsup2

Ok I've taken about 1.5 hours banging on this stupid puter :badpc: trying to get my siggy back with some sorta pictures. Wonder how long till the siggy police knock it off this time eh? ::cop: I thought i had followed the rules but hey I have been known to totally ignore each and every rule laid down in front of me :rotfl2:

Yes, I have wondered where you've been, too, nsalz. Hope things are going OK for your mom. (I guess that means PD and all the girls, yours and hers, need some :grouphug: pixiedust: too) Take care!

LizzY says it was totally DH's idea and that she just helped him confirm that he had the right color. He's gone to Saturday's game and seen them and thought he'd have LizzY help him when they went on SUnday! :thumbsup2

What a good, thoughtful hubby! :thumbsup2

I'm not sure if you've ever listened to Car Talk on the radio, but they called it the brain damage ages (Bill Cosby used this reference too). Oh, and in boys I've also heard it called the "Hey, Watch This!" stage. :lmao:

And that last stage can be very dangerous to all involved!

She still has no idea what it is she want to do with her life (Ben knew from about age 10) so she is staying in Highschool for a whole extra year. :teacher: We used to go to grade 13 but then for some STUPID reason the goverment dropped that year and expect most kids to graduate at the end of grade 12. We have so many required courses that it leaves little time for the kids to "try out" some options. Easier for us though since paying for her to flounder for a year is better. Besides she needs the comfort and security fo home right now. :grouphug:

Kewl changes to your siggy!! And good for EM getting to have that time to find her wings! :grouphug:

ETA ~ I see you already pretty much figured it out but here is a break down on what we call seafood boils down here. ~

Crab boils (also known as shrimp or crawfish boils) are when you take a large pot (the bigger the better like 25 gal or more) on a propane burner outside and fill it with water, crab boil seasoning, new potatoes, corn on the cob, and then shell fish of some sort like crab, shrimp or crawfish. You boil the seafood till done and then remove all the veggies and seafood and put on a large table with news paper on it. Everyone gathers around the table (usually done as a large party) and just digs in. It is like a big barbque without the grill. That is how we do things down here in Louisiana. :thumbsup2

So when are we invited? After both trips, I'm guessing!

Mind if I cut in?? Hi y'all  , how have you been? I haven't been around in awhile, wondered if anyone remembers me? I did NOT die or even lapse into a coma, just got really, really lazy...I just couldn't keep up with it!! Been thinkin' about y'all, wondered if you had kept up this crazy thread even after they moved it to the CB....(I'm still scratchin' my head over that one...) anywho, I will check in with you guys periodically to let you know that I still love you, and I am still a swipin'! I have emailed a few times with my fellow Michigander, Theresa, but I missed all you guys, too! What's new??

Greetings! did your ears burn as they were asking about you? Glad you could pop in. No one is on top of this I don't think, except Stinkerbell's mom, so join in at any time! :teeth:

Sorry about your old pictures, but I do like these new ones! Maybe you should save them in case something like that happens again.
