OK .....I think Im calm now - even managed to change July to August in my post (whew, I was just laughing so hard the dates got away from me...) It's actually SO SWEET that he thinks he might get chilly at night....little chuckle... Now watch, there'll be some FREAK cold spell while you're there, since we've all giggled ourselves silly!

But, hey we do take long slleve/long pant pj's for our kids - since we BLAST the AC in our room at night to try and bring the adults core temp down before the next day! :)
Yeah, that's what I've been thinking, too: freak cold spell so I'll never hear the end of it. Hehe. I, too, have long-pant pjs packed for the little one (Disney princess, natch) but expect the rest of us to just cover up if we have to.

Hee hee. I'm glad you think my DH is so sweet and cute. :sunny: Want him? :teeth:

I have to tell you guys about this, heh. My DH and I were talking (as long as his lil' vacation-talk attention span would allow) about what will get packed and how much room we'll have in suitcases. He told me he's going to pack his lined jacket. :rotfl2: I said, "You're high. It will take up all that room in the suitcase and you'll never use it. In fact, it will make you hotter just knowing it's in the room." He said, "It might get chilly at night." Me: "No, it's not going to. When you're at work tonight and for the next two weeks, try checking the weather for 32830. Do it about 11:00 pm here, which is 2:00 am there and tell me if you think you'll need even a tshirt if you were to go outside for god knows what reason at that hour." DH: "I'm bringing a jacket. There might be a hurricane and you'll be sorry you don't have a jacket too if it gets all rainy and the wind starts to blow like that, etc. etc." Me: "Fine. Bring a jacket. The rest of us aren't bringing one. But I am going right now to post this little conversation to my friends on the DIS boards. I'll let you know what they have to say about this." :rotfl: He looks at the "light" jacket he was thinking of bringing and says, "Hmm, well, I guess this isn't as light as I was thinking."

I told him if he so much as brings a pair of Levi's (black is what he mostly has because he wears them to work...can you IMAGINE black Levi's at WDW in August!!??) I am not going to let him live it down all week. Omg.

Welcome back, sewer! Didja dye any pools lime green while you were there? ;) Any trip report in your future?

AHEM....folks...if a hurricane were to come along while you are in WDW, the last thing you need to worry about is if you have a light jacket to keep warm!!!!........you need to get your hinies into that big durn castle that was designed to withstand a category 5 hurricane.......and hang on for dear life! :rotfl: :rotfl:

He-eeey, don't use be tawkin bout our blue crabs HON!

Hope you have a fun time at the :beach: ! It will be extremeley :sunny: & :crowded: Which way are you coming down? If you've never been the things to get on the boardwalk are Thrashers fries (most people eat them with vinegar), Fisher's carmel popcorn, & Dumsers Ice Cream. I believe the boardwalk sells all you can ride wristbands on Saturday afternoon. You definetly have to go to the boardwalk at night! Of course its :sunny: (hot) & :crowded: then too.
Came back from WDW with money (shocking concept), of course immediately had to book a quick get-away to spend it...before my kids sniff it out.

Had sticker shock when I priced out hotels...and they say Disney resorts are expensive???? Booked @ Plim Plaza until I saw the postage stamp size of the rooms, cancelled & booked @ the Flamingo up on 31st (just past end of BW). I'm told they're a 1/2 block from the beach but, we'll have an OF room - curiouser & curiouser LOL. Appears as though the Jolly Roger Amusement park is a block or two across Ocean Blvd. I've been recommended to eat @ the Coin Pub (2800 block), Phillips Seafood, PGN Crab House on (29th & Phila) or Higgin Crab House (next to hotel?) for tableserve & the Dough Roller & Fat Daddy Sub Shop for counter serve. Can you tell me if these are good choices.

Haven't been to OC in over 14 years, we're die-hard Myrtle Beach fans but, I don't feel like driving 12 hours for a few days @ the beach. I'm sure it's changed a lot. Last time it took around 6-1/2 hours from Pittsburgh area. I specifically tried to avoid the weekend because of traffic concerns.

Cynd - your hubbie might be on to something...the restaurants @ WDW are freezing! Believe you said you were staying @ OKW...not sure if they have the new sensors that lower the AC to nada if there's no movement in the room. Trick is to purchase a balloon to float around & keep the AC humming. We didn't have the problem @ BW but did @ WL. Did you request a particular building @ OKW?

BTW, Lime Green Margaritas rock!

Wow, no kidding? That's so cool! My homegirl! We're in Yucaipa...first town all the way down the hill, as you know. I was reading your signature. I went to grad night in '83, so we're almost the same age.
oldlady.gif

The Yucca Valley fire (started by lightning!) is about 70% contained as of today, from what I understand, but gads the sky is smokey and cloudy. We've seen dozens and dozens of fire planes up here and down in the valley in the last few days....constant activity. It seems they were able to steer the fire away from Big Bear a couple of days ago. Whew. After the big fires three years ago, Big Bear doesn't need anymore threats like that. You know how big fires and smoke sort of make their own weather? It rained here today! 61,000 acres have been burned, wow....above Cabazon and back in the San G wilderness. 50 homes destroyed. We were worried here because the news said the fire might have been headed towards Oak Glen. Aiiee! Things are winding down now, though, thank heavens. If only for air quality's sake, I hope they get it put all the way out very soon. *cough cough*

Oh wow, that is so cool to meet someone from "home" (well, close enough anyway!)! We used to go up Hwy 38 everytime we went back up the hill because it was a much easier drive than 18! And I hear ya about the tottering old smiley - I turn the big FOUR-OH tomorrow :scared1: :faint:   (but really, I'm handling it fine.......NOT!!!!!!!!)

I'm so relieved that they are starting to get it under control. A friend I went to high school with is fire chief in Big Bear, and I spoke with him Friday night by IM and he was leaving the next day to offer support in fighting the fire. Haven't heard back from him and was starting to get nervous. I'm glad they have it back out into a relatively unpopulated area - hopefully they will be able to put it out soon! :goodvibes :cool1: Thanks for the update!!!

Congratulations, however that money won't last long there.

Yep, they are very expensive. Hmmm, they're are so many hotels there I really don't know that one.

Appears as though the Jolly Roger Amusement park is a block or two across Ocean Blvd.

Jolly Rogers is great. It has a great putt putt area, the amusement park is nice, but the better rides are at the Boardwalk of course. They also have a water park my sil & bro just went to & loved, its about $32 admission. They also have a great go cart area back there.

I've been recommended to eat @ the Coin Pub (2800 block), Phillips Seafood, PGN Crab House on (29th & Phila) or Higgins Crab House (next to hotel?) for tableserve & the Dough Roller & Fat Daddy Sub Shop for counter serve. Can you tell me if these are good choices.

I've been to all. Coines & PGN look like little hole-in-the -wall places, but the food is pretty good. Phillips has great food, but I'm telling you there will be a huge line & its not worth the line. Doug Roller is good also Dumsers is good. Haven't been to the other places. You can always pick up something on the boardwalk. I'm warning you everything is expensive. It's a little town that has about 3,000 residents & swells up to over 15,000 in the Summer. Probably more than that. Other great places to eat are JR Ribs, Nicks House of Ribs (probably the best), and Jordan's on 142-- food is great, but the restaurant is on top of the hotel & it has amazing views.

Alot of the OC people have moved on to Myrtle Beach, but I grew up going to OC so I always get a feeling of magic returning there. However, we now usually save that magic for the off season because I hate the heat & the crowds.

Have a great time. This might help. http://www.oceancity.com/

We *are* planning to bring lightweight cotton "coverups" that can easily be rolled up into the Baggallini in case of freezing AC, but you should have seen the jacket he was talking about bringing. It'd have to be in the 40s for that thing to make sense! :rotfl:

I don't know if we'll have the motion sensors at OKW, but I have seen the threads that show how to bypass that motion thing on the thermostat. The balloon idea is a really good one, though! Will certainly keep that in mind! We didn't request a specific building at OKW, but did ask for these things: "South Point area, near pool, upper floor". Think we'll get those things? I'm not necessarily attached to South Point, per se, but we do want to be close to a quiet pool and the bus stop and we really want a building above 30 so we have dual access to the bathroom in our 1 BR. I was thinking about calling back (gotta do it quick, if I'm gonna) and changing the request to something like "non-smoking/non-HA, building # above 30 (for dual access to bathroom), near a pool" I figured we'd get all the above things that are important to us if we're in South Point (since those buildings are all non-smoking/non-HA anyway), but I'm also afraid if they don't have something over there for us, they'll put us in a building with only the one access to the bathroom, and maybe smoking and/or HA. Sorry, but I do NOT want my kids tramping through the bedroom all the time on the way to the bathroom or bothering me while I'm in the jacuzzi tub. Half the reason we chose a 1 BR OKW is for the adult privacy deal. Not sure what is best to do and would consider any advice.

And yes, lime green margaritas

are the best!
