OK guys what exactly is a dole whip?
It is like a soft serve ice cream, only made with pineapple and tastes suspiciously like sherbet. Really refreshing on a hot day. Yum. We have them here at Disneyland, too - they are sold at a stand outside the Tiki Room.

St Tammany  Hi from the North Shore :rotfl: (though I don't think I am the DISer that got all the LGMH from the HD's over here as I haven't been able to get my hands on any more recently :rotfl: )

St. Tammany! My mom grew up in Mandeville and her parents still live there... along with alot of her brothers and sisters! :cool1:

You're always so smart Cyn! Getting pain due to "conserving" action (not using your body in the way you normally would - because its painful!) is a big problem. I know my back pain is exasberated by the fact that I need a joint replacement in my foot (because I broke my toe - go figure - 21 years ago!!! How embarrassing ....kicked a wall....bad boyfriend...) I need to fix my toe to help fix my back! :)

Poor toe - poor Cyn.....take care! :goodvibes
Toe feeling better....still worried about the back. I have had chronic neck and back problems for about 14 years now and it bites. It doesn't take much to exacerbate the problem and that's the last thing I need at WDW!!!! (man, hope I won't need a joint replacement for that big toe, either...that sounds horrendous). Anyway, I can totally relate here!

Hi everyone,

Update on Cody Sick Log day ?????

Sat afternoon we all decided to go to poc2 for youngest (he's a pirate). Drove to another city to go and Cody really started looking kind of bad. He started to run a fever again and his color wasn't so good. Off to the hospital er we went (busiest ER in the state of Colorado).

Got to Er around 6pm and admitted to pediatric unit about 4am. Fun night of torture to be sure. They did another chest xray and echocardiogram. He was diagnosed with a chest mass that night. Pretty much lost my mind. Next morning off to Ct scan. Diagnoses yep it's a chest mass 4cm big but we don't know what it is from. Sunday night off to surgery to remove enlarged lymph node in neck. ENT doc thinks the mass in the chest is a lymph node like the one in the neck but will have to remove lymph node in neck to study since it is the easiest to get to.

Monday and Tuesday: 2 treacherous days of waiting for pathology results. The final pathology of the node is that it is not malignant but possibly has characteristics of Cat scratch disease (our first test for that was negative however).

Cody is pretty much bed bound these two days on Iv antibiotics and fluids. No temps after arrival to floor but getting motrin regularly for surgery pain.

Discharged today since he has had the proper antibiotic treatment for cat scratch disease now and he will just have to recuperate now. He has lost about 6 pounds (only weighed 48 pounds prior). He was a cool looking incision on his neck. (it will send fear and intimidation to opponents in hockey games as it looks like a slash to the neck). We plan on telling people that the pirate got carried away with his sword since we never go out without Brody in his pirate gear.

So that is basically the short of the story. I will try and catch up on the posts this week however I do need to get back to work so we can hopefully go on vacation soon.

Michelle, I am so glad to hear from you, we've all been so worried. :grouphug: :grouphug: Hope this means a final recovery for Cody. I'm so glad you finally got an answer to all of this.

What exactly is Cat Scratch Disease & how do you catch it?

Hoping for a quick & smooth recovery!!! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

It's good to get on here and remember not to sweat the small stuff. In the last few hours, I've turned into Dis-zilla, worrying about if I have everything for tomorrow morning. I bought a bottle of Bullfrog sunscreen a couple of weeks ago for this trip, now it's nowhere to be found. The kids are out so I called their cell phones to ask them if they know where it is. Turned the house upside down. Accused DH of putting it away somewhere dumb. Found another bottle 3/4 full, but it's not the RIGHT ONE! Why do I get so worked up? I can just buy another bottle if we need it, right? Coming on here and seeing HMo2's trials reminds me to get a grip, there's real trouble, and then there's the stuff we get worked up about that's really nothing.
So, I'm still sweating (current temp here, 90 F), but I'll try to let go of the small stuff.
You know, I've been thinking the same things. My toe could be worse (could have broken a whole leg or something, ya know?) and others have it a lot more stressful right now (like HMo2). I'm amazingly not as stressed out right now as I might be. It helps to put it all into perspective, for sure.

Apparently having a kitten puts you at highest risk of this. Most people don't get sick however he did have strep so his immune system might have been overwhelmed. The infection is from a bacteria that approx 40 (i've read even higher amounts) of kittens carry in their mouth which can infect someone when bitten or scratched by a cat.

Getting a cat was kind of a big step here. We are dog lovers and have never had a cat but decided it was time to help keep rodents and rabbits away (after the rabbit incident early this summer). I asked Cody tonight if he still liked the cat and his answer cracked me up "Not so much". We may however really truly never know what the illness is unless he needs another blood draw but after 8 he's not too excited about doing that again. I'll feel much better about his recovery after he starts to be more perky and stay perky. Then and probably only then will I start to relax a little. Bless our doctor though for our next illness I'm sure I'll be a neurotic mess.

I did get some good pictures of Cody sacked out and of his incision and the nursing staff and the hospital. Poor kid sucks to have a mom who scrapbooks every little detail of their lives.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers during this time.

Doggone it! Someone swiped my nametag :furious: ! I'm just finishing packing, and my beautiful, clip on, LGMHPC nametag with DWHEATL printed across the bottom in bold black letters is nowhere to be found. I suspect DD, who tells me a)I'm obsessed, and b)that she doesn't want me talking to strangers at WDW. She's such a control freak. I don't know where she get's that :rolleyes1 . Anyway, she's not home yet, so I'm just making myself another one. It says DIS and BOARD on the ears, then my name on the bottom.
I hope I'm not turning into my grandma. She always accused people of stealing her things, and said she hoped they choked on whatever they took. It was especially funny when her dentures disappeared and she said that. :rotfl2: Anyways, it always turned out that she had just misplaced things (the dentures were in her pillowcase) :teeth: .

Next time I go to HD I will get a couple green mickey paint chips and if they are all out, I know why. I will post a picture of one on here and maybe if you can't get to a home depot you can print out the pictures :rotfl:
